remote text not connecting

this has been asked in several threads, but Im unclear about 1 thing

should Remote Text be able to connect, when PFE is - ALSO - run from a client computer?
(since it has a port in its .ini)

my FSX is on my game box
PFE run from notebook, and runs
Remote Text on notebook 'waiting to detect PFE' (or something)?

FSUIPC's ShowText runs fine also, but lacks the PFE filters i noticed

thx

Same situation here....
"ATTEMPTING CONNECTION TO PFE....." is the only thing it says.

On PFEmulator.ini I've got:
[RemoteText]
RTActive=1
SocketPort=1008

In remote text.ini:

[Config]
FirstRun=1
LeftPos=1845
TopPos=4815
BackCol=0
TextCol=65280
HBackCol=0
HTextCol=65280
Font=Arial
FontSize=12
FontBold=0
FontItalic=0
Border=1
PFEServer= "name of the client pc" (the same where is running PFE.I tried also with ip address and with 0.0.0.0 with no joy!)
PFEPort=1008
AtcComs=1
OwnComs=1
MsgDelay=30
LastMsg=1
HighlightTX2U=0
AlwaysOnTop=0

I also tried giving both the address and the name of the pc where FSX is running but... no chances.

If I delete the Remote Text.ini file and run again the .exe file in the beginning it asks me the name or the IP address of the PC where PFE is running BUT this has not to be the same pc where Remote text is running.
So what number or name do I have to fill this field with?
Suggestions are welcome! :)

Are you running any security software that could be preventing use of that port?

Nod32 on the server, Kaspersky antivirus 2011 on the client pc. Both with win 7 ultimate and their own Microsoft firewalls.

But it is strange antivirus blocks the use of an application that does not communicate outside on a net, isn't it?

Do you enter your IP address like this?

PFEServer=192.168.1.20

Not the same numbers but yes. I checked them from IPconfig in the CMD prompt.

My questions:
A) why must I enter the IP address of PFE server if it's running on the same machine? Would not be correct if it was 0.0.0.0 instead?
B) can I type the computer IP where PFE is running even if it is stated must not be the same where Remote Text is?

All the other applications (tgs display, remote radio stack and PFE Display) are working and PFE is connecting to fsx. That's why it sounds awkward Remote Text cannot connect.

A) because the program is dumb and needs to know where pfe is running

B) yes you can have pfe and remote text running on the same machine

Thanks for your answers. Remote text now is working as should do. After a pc reboot all the troubles have gone.
