Post subject: | Approach problem (with a STAR) wrong altitude |
Using the last version of software 2.14, the problem occurs with the moment when I end the route and come to IAF point. For example: Flight plan is from EKCH to LOWW: 2011-07-07 23:22:32: 310 - Last waypoint altitude adjusted from 14399 to 10000' 00 - EKCH - 17 01 - SIMEG - 23000 02 - SALLO - 29000 03 - LABES - 37000 04 - LABES - 37000 05 - RODEP - 37000 06 - RAKIT - 37000 07 - RENKI - 37000 08 - GERGA - 37000 09 - BESKO - 37000 10 - EBASA - 37000 11 - KOBUS - 37000 12 - BUSIR - 37000 13 - HDO - 37000 14 - KOMUR - 37000 15 - KOPIT - 37000 16 - ABRAX - 37000 17 - ABRAX - 37000 18 - BELUX - 29000 19 - MIKOV - 10000 20 - LOWW - 10000 21 - LOWW - 601 This a copy from debug_monitor.log file. So, MIKOV is the last point of the route and the first point of STAR. Options sid and star checked, and end of the sid, start of the star definied within profilght emulator. Everything is ok untill to the MIKOV. The last trasmissions close to the MIKOV are: "KLM 2686 maintain Heading 165 Cleared to final for Sierra Tango Approach runway 29 at pilot's discretion Contact Tower on 119.4 when established". And soon there is another comm (contact with nextcontroller): 'Out of Flight Level 160 for Flight Level 140 Sierra Tango Approach until established on the ILS runway 29 descend on ILS KLM 2686' Here is the problem: Flight Lever 140 Sierra Tango! Why 140??? Here should be 3000 ft as the altitude is FAF! When I fly descent (manually decided fly to 3000 although I've got permission only to FL140, every time the approach controller told me something, eg. 'reduce speed to 270' co-pilot set altitude to FL140. Where is the error, the final altitude of the STAR is so high? The same situation is, when I fly from LOWW to ECGH. Setting manually altitude of FAF in the options of sid/stars, doesn't change anything. Please, help Chris |

Hi Chris, what planner did you use to create your flightplan? I have just created your FP using FS Build and at the last wp which is different to yours NERDU as 2 altitudes 14,000 and 11,000 and at LOWW i have only 600,why do you have 10,000 and 600 at LOWW? Something as gone wrong with your FP as a guess. Have you checked out the tutorials that i have done, one even covers sids/stars on YOUTUBE(the link is at the splash screen on this website) Let us know how you get on please.. |

I usually use vroute.info to get flight plan but the same problem occurs when I'm using FSCommander. Honestly saying, I never hear correct command with STAR procedure. I think it should be sth like 'fly Sierra Tango at 3000 feet', eg. Unfortunatelly thinks goes bad always with STAR. I tried change altitude in FPE options but no results. I watched video with sids/stars on YOUTUBE, and there the command is correct. It means, STAR is with good altitude. I dont know why FPE in my case works properly only with vectoring with approach, but never with STAR. And altitude at my flayplane is 10000 because I manually change it from 14000 to 10000. As I wrote earlier nothing happens after this change. Yesterday I was flying from LOWW to EKCH and altitude from ATC ended with 12000 - nothing less only 12000. Why? Again when ATC vectors me to the FAF everything is OK. Altitude is changing accordingly to the position of the aircraft. But I would like the same situation with STAR approach. Maybe someone indicate source of this bad case? regards, Chris |

Hi Chris, i flew a ST approach into LFMN (Nice Airport) and i was given FL140 from FL350 (not at one go) then i was given the ST approach etc and then told to descend to FL70 until on the ILS instruction. Now i can only assume(and you may correct me if i'm wrong here) is it down to the mountainous region and MSL,because when i flew to Nice i came over the Alps or whatever mountains are nearby,so i was kept at 7000ft. Now this is the second ST approach i have flown recently and haven't encountered problems you have and my FP's are created using FSC 8.6...sorry i can't be of anymore help! |

OK. Maybe you could send me some adv file(s), which do the right job for you, and I try fly with this files. Then I'll see are there any problems with your files. Regards, Chris |

The main thing is to play a good flight, working with you. So please send me a flight plan, adv file in one rar file. The filight plan may be in fsc format. Necessarily it must be flight, in which all the commands with ST approach was given correctly. I mean, descending was guided sth like descend to 10000, next to 7000, next to 3000 ft. Beside I'd like another flight plan with adv file from LOWW to ESSA, which doesn't work correctly with my case. Thanks Ragards, Chris |
