Ok, so I am using PFE and creating a flight plan using FSBuild. I don't select any SIDs or STARS when building in FSBuild.
I then setup the flight plan in PFE and ProFlight and again didn't select any SID's or STARS..
I took off and flew my flight and descended on to my destination as ATC asked me to. The last descent instruction I got was to FL150, ATC then said contact approach xxx.x. They then gave me the active runway using ILS and said use Sieria Tango approach (this isnt a star to my understanding??)..
After this instruction I didn't get any instructions to decsend (which I was expecting) and I was still at FL150 when my Localiser captured. I obviously was far to high...
Why would ATC leave me up there at FL150 and not bring me down to the level in which I capture the ILS (6500 or 8000 for this airport)? I was landing in KLAS on 25R..
I then ended up flying my own heading to get down to 6500 and once at this level captured the LOC at FLYES INT.
ATC never cleared me for landing (so I landed anyway - ooopps). Why would this be as I have it on CP MODE 2 so the co-pilot tunes all frequencies..?
I have had this senerio for the last few flights. I can't remember now if it has ever guided me down to the ILS intecept alt or not?
Does it do this is you use STARS?
I think I must be missing a fundamental piece of the process as the FSX ATC always instructed me down to the correct flight level.
I am using the latest version.. 2.14.0
Please let me know your thoughts...
