I thought this was a one-off error when it first happened, but now it has happened in different aircraft at different airports a number of times, maybe someone can help.

This time, I was about 2 minutes short of touchdown at LOWI, descending. I was not touching any of the controls at the time, when suddenly I hear "Gear going up" and the landing gear starts retracting. What triggers this (during landing?) and if it is going to be a problem, how do I take over control of the gear and flaps (which latter are extended to full flaps way too early).

Thanks,

Martin

I should have said 'sometimes'. I have the right a/c profile loaded by the way.

Well, is there any way that I can take back control of the landing gear without disabling the co-pilot entirely (the interaction is very nice: shame to lose it)? In any case, I find that the gear goes down way too early - before the a/c gets anywhere near the localizer, let alone the glidescope.

If I can't get back manual control of the gear without deactivating the co-pilot, are there any settings (.ini file or whatever) that I could change so that at least the gear goes down later than it does? I am not sure what triggers the gear down (gear up is fine).

Thanks.

Martin

If the gear goes up during finals its because fdc assumes you are doing a go around, usually because it detects an increase in ias or the aircraft changes from its landing profile by perhaps suddenly climbing.

Add for the gear going down too soon that is entirely configurable from the aircraft profile editor

I didn't see the config screen for gear - I obviously must look again!

The gear going back up by itself is odd (doesn't happen too often) - the a/c is on autoland (APPR) and was not speeding up (Level-D 767).

Thanks Dave,

Martin

Hi - yes, I did find it by seraching the help file for 'gear'; I've been editing the settings for the past 15 minutes, though I find it quicker to open the .uco file with a text editor and change the value there - amounts to the same thing (got a backup of the originals, just in case).

Martin :)
