I have been running FDC for several months quite happily. A couple of days ago, Windows 7 (64) decided that it needed to repair my Windows installation. Since then I have had a couple of niggles: one of them is that I get:
Error 429. ActiveX component can't create object in "SetupDirectSound" routine, when trying to connect. Then FDC just shuts down.

Is there an easy answer or is it a re-install of Windows and FDC (horrors!).

FSX runs on its own disk with W7 64.

Easiest thing to do is download and install the cumulative updates package. There's no need to uninstall anything first.

Culmulative update package? Never heard of it. What is the link to the right one? This is the only software that I am having a problem with.

Its one of the topics in the announcements at the top of the forum named "FDC Accumulative Update Installer", there is a link for you below directly to said topic.

I wish I could say the same !!! UNFORTUNATELY after doing all of the above, now I get a message saying my FDC was not installed correctly and I need 2.0 or higher.............. HHHhmmmmmmmm........... I have 3.6 which I've been running for years complete with updates AND without incident. I don't know where/how this problem started but I'm just about over it......... I've taken all the steps suggested above with no results............. I'm this close to uninstalling and looking for some thing different................

So you've been running it for years without any issues and now something has occurred and you want to ditch it..... Mmmmmmmmh.

Try running the cumulative installer again and this time stop all other programs, especially your anti virus and any other security type programs you might have.
