First thing is to reinstall but ensure you do so with admin rights and stop all other programs that maybe running, especially your virus checker and any other security type programs. If you have vista or win 7 do NOT install into the program files folder

Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S

Just create a folder in the root of your C: drive or any other drive you have for that matter, something like C:\FDC would suffice.

What is the FDC version number and what errors do you get now?

Try this,
create a new partiton on your HD using Partion Master or similar and name it FDC or Oncourse-software or whatever.
Uninstall FDC and delete all folders relating to FDC.
Run registry checker.
Re-install onto the new partition.

I use win7-64 using the above method and have no probs at all ;)
