I had to reinstall my FDC cockpit software which was version 2.1, I then ran the FDC Accumulative Update to bring it up to version 3.14, which installed fine.
(All security and anti-virus applications was disabled at time of installation and I ran the installation files as administrator on windows 7).

I ran Flight Simulator X and then I double click to open FDC, only the FDC front page picture will appear, and the FDC panel will appear for less than a second and then disappear and shut itself down.

However if I don't have FSX running and I double-clicked on the icon to run FDC, the programme operates fine and does not shutdown by itself.

I don't know why this happens, it never happened before, until I had to un-install and reinstall FDC. Can you help?

current FSUIPC is Version 4.60 of FSUIPC4.dll

Opposite for me. Without FSX running, opening the .exe causes the FDC picture window to appear then it shuts down.

Do you have Windows UAC on or off and are you running FDC as Admin?

Hi, I'm on Vista and have UAC off. I've also tried running FDC as admin and it didn't make a difference.

The only screen to come up on first run after install was to set language and the update option. After that and subsequent times the program exits after the FDC image.

What I have noticed different now, than before, is when I do open up FDC wihtout FSX running, on the control panel, the version number is shown, but there is no sign of FSUIPC version number, which I am sure it use to show when I had the software installed last time.

Come to think of it, ever since I updated the FSUIPC to the latest version a couple of days ago and then had to do all the necessary re-installation of FSX and add on's, did I start to experience problems with FDC only at the moment.

any thoughts?

Press the start button in Windows 7 then type UAC into the search box just above the search button, its called User Account Control. Move the slider you see down to the bottom.

I have managed to solve the issue I originally posted without having to turn off my UAC.

I solved it by:

1. Right-clicked on the FDC shortcut and selected Properties

2. On the tab labelled Shortcut, I clicked on the button labelled Advanced

3. I ticked the tick box labelled Run as administrator and then clicked on the OK button.

4. When prompted by the system, I click ok to confirm.

5. I then went to the tab labelled Compatibility

6. I ticked the box next to run this program as administrator and clicked on the button labelled Apply

7. Finally, I clicked on OK to exit.

Now when I run FSX, my FDC will now run at the same time and will not shut itself down as it did before.

I am logged in as Admin, however I've tried again setting the properties of the program and the shortcut to 'Run as Administrator'. However, I've been unable to check the Admin box under compatibility.

I don't know what else to try.

Hi Chris make sure you have updated to the latest version using the accumulative update that is available in the announcements section at the top of the forum.
