Post subject: | Flightplan will not compile: |
I just FlightSim Commander originated, PFE converted, and PF2000 compiled a flight from Johannesburg (FAJS) to Jerusalem (LLJR). The flightplan compiled fine, and the flight was flawless. I then tried a return flight from LLJR to FAJS in the same way, and it would not compile. 1. Originated a flight with FlightSim Commander with interior waypoints, LLJRFAJS. 2. Saved the flight to my Flight Simulator X Files Folder. 3. Converted this file with PFE. 4. Selected this PFE flight in PF2000, along with the aircraft, altitude, and callsign and clicked compile in PF2000. The compile option was live (not grayed out), and when I clicked on it, the text in the bottom left of the PF2000 window switched to read, "Inserting Step Climbs". However, the flightplan never compiles, nor is it in my PFE\FS2000\PF2000\FlightPlans folder. I also of course never get the PF2000 audio telling me my flightplan has been filed. I have tried with only my origin and destination (no interior waypoints). Still would not compile. I have also tried various aircraft and altitudes. Still would not compile. I have also tried originating the flight with the FSX internal flightplanner (No FSC). Still would not compile. KJFK to FAJS compiles just fine. FAJS to LLJR compiles just fine. EGLL to FAJS compiles just fine. LLJR to FAJS will not compile. LLBG to FAJS will not compile. GFLL to FAJS will not compile. HKJK to FAJS will not compile. LTBA to FAJS will not compile Seems that locations in Asia or Eastern Turkey to FAJS will not compile for me. Any ideas? RTH For what it is worth, an example is the following with a DC4 at 12,000 feet. First, please check you are running the latest version of PFE Second, please adjust your 'center altitude' (PF 'settings') because if that is higher than your cruise altitude you will have this problem. |

Hello Dave: "First, please check you are running the latest version of PFE" "Version 2.14.0" When I "Check for Updates", I get the following response: "No updates available. This version is currently up to date and there are no futher updates available right now. Please try again at another time." "Second, please adjust your 'center altitude' (PF 'settings') because if that is lower than your cruise altitude you will have this problem." My "Center altitude" was set @ 6,000 feet. My selections for cruise altitude was 12,000 feet originally. I also tried 32,000 feet, and then for the G5, 50,000 feet. However, thanks to your prompt and kind reply, you apparently nailed the location of my problem. it seems that a minimum can be set too low, and/or possibly too close to a waypoint altitude as well. I changed my "center altitude" to 10,000 feet and she compiled with no problem. Best guess: The field altitude at FAJS is 5,558 feet. Is it possible that a wider separation between my original "Center Altitude" of 6,000 feet and the altitude of my origin (FAJS = 5,558 feet) was needed? In any case, editing to 10,000 feet seems to have cured the problem. Respectfully: RTH |

Hello, What is 'center altitude'? Thanks, Sabre. |

How come then, I don't have this problem. My "Center Altitude in PF is set to 14500 yet I always fly above that without any problems. vololiberista |

It's a typo, Dave meant to say higher not lower. |

You adjust the centre altitude in the proflight2000 part of the software. Press 'settings' ![]() Then change the centre altitude as highlighted below; ![]() |

Thanks, Andy. Do you find value of 4500ft is good for flying routes at ~ FL300? Cheers, Sabre. |

Post subject: | Re: Flightplan will not compile: |
Yes that should be fine. I mainly fly VFR now so I tend to use 3000 feet in and around the UK and 6000 feet when flying IFR, so 4500 should be OK. I'm not sure how PFE would react if you started at an airport with a ground altitude at these levels though, it will probably be fine, but I've never tried it. |
