I had forgotten this feature, as I never hear it. So went to options, thinking it must be set to '0' - but no, it's at 50% (I reset it to 20% instead). So how is it that I am never given leave to fly faster than 250kts under 10,000'. What does ATC actually say?

Is there some other parameter that would mean I never hear this: my hearing, luckily, is just fine, BTW :-), so it's not the fault of my ears. 'My brain' then? I'd tend to say not (but then I would, wouldn't I?!). Maybe the permission goes in one ear and out of the other.. but frankly, I doubt that very much as well! Every single time?

So I am pleading innocent in this until proven guilty, and 'blaming' PF3  (Any reason it wouldn't work in X-Plane?).

If you do short trips it won't happen... you need to be above 3,000' and more than 50 miles away from your destination before the random percentage check is done

They say "No Speed Restriction" . . .

It certainly works here, mine is set at 25%, although most of what I fly couldn't achieve 250 on the downhill with the wind behind them!

That's really odd! As I say, in the many years I have used PF3 I don't recall ever having heard it (or having seen it, as the COMM log is on my screen). I mostly fly short-medium haul (London to Vienna might be typical), but that means medium-large jets, so I would certainly expect it to be present.

I can't see any other setting in options that would stop this from happening. I have unchecked the option and then re-checked it. Maybe.. ???

Hi Martin,

I should add that the setting of 25% doesn't mean I get told that on 1 in 4 flights, maybe 1 in 10 or greater at this end. So to try and prove whether it works at all, I would suggest pumping that number up to a huge figure for testing.

Best regards,

John

As John suggested, set it to 100

OK, set to 100%. Will test out shortly. At what stage would the 'no restriction' call be made? At takeoff clearance?

No, nothing. Set to 100%, Checked the COM log onscreen too, no mention of 'No speed restriction'. Be interested to know what you see in the log.

(Don't look too closely at my approach BTW - HOLD went wrong, and then went overspeed... not usually so 'clumsy'! :P )

20 downloads of the log  ... no ideas as to why I never get the no restriction call?
