Post subject:  vectors to landing

Dear reader,

I enjoy pf3-atc very much. I do have a question though. When i get near my destination atc announces i will get vectors for landing. But then i never get vectors anywhere near the runway. I am wondering why. So finally i choose 1, so that i can fly myself to the runway and contact the tower when i am established on the ils.
Could you tell me what i am doing wrong? Maybe you can find it in the log file.
Thanks in advance.

Rob Peters.

Wow! This is a tricky one.

The reason you're not getting correct approach vectors is due to some very weird data on your machine. All the runway Lat/Lon figures are wrong! For instance, EHAM runway 4, should be Lat: 52.14167 Lon: 4.54096 whereas your data shows Lat: 5.23 Lon: 4783276

Now the waypoint data looks fine, but that comes from your flight plan whereas the runway data comes from MSFS via MakeRwys. Why this should be I have absolutely no idea whatsoever. I note your Windows regional settings are UK and Dutch, so maybe having both messes things up. I would certainly like to see a copy of your PF3_FS20_Runways.dat file, which you will find in the PF3/Data folder and which would also need to be ZIPped before attaching it.

I would then suggest you try changing your Windows regional settings to UK for both Regional Format and the Additional Regional settings for date formats, etc.

After that you would need to rebuild the PF3 database, including and most importantly running MakeRwys. Then I would suggest attaching the new copy of the PF3_FS20_Runways.dat file so I can check it out.

Hello Dave,

I have no idea. I will follow your advice. I will let you know how it pans out. I will then upload the PF3_FS20 Runways.dat file.

Thanks for your help.

Cheers,

Rob.

Thanks for your help.

Mmmmmh... doesn't look like that file was an issue. Have you tried another flight yet. If so please attach the debug log

Hello Dave,

Here is the debug log file. I hope you can find something, or everythin is fine. That would be even better.

Cheers,
Rob.

Well the data certainly looks okay now but your approach was awful and I can't determine why, other than you were way too high. Are you using the PMDG FMC to control your descent? Your last waypoint was only 20 miles from the airport which is on the close side so maybe try dropping that one.

I also notice PF3 couldn't pick up any weather data as it was showing you had no internet connection?

Please do keep me updated with your next flight and do attach the log file. Something still isn't quite right and I would certainly like to fathom out what it is.

Hello Dave,

First of all I want to thank you for your help and the time you take to figure out the issue.
I follow the commands of PF3. But I use vnav to control the descent.
I will let you know how the next flight works out.

Cheers,

Rob.
