Hi PF3 team, is there any chance for implementing a CDA procedure? This means for example a descent request form cruise to the lowest altitude constraint or approach fix. Currently descent requests are limited to 9T feet. Cheers Bernd R. Schindler, CFG023 |

I think that Mike, one of our PF3 users, has suggested a method that would accomplish this, or very nearly so. On the PF3 waypoint page you can determine the point at which you want to begin descent and then set all subsequent altitudes to the final desired altitude. You will either be cleared down to the desired altitude, or given stepped instructions but be able to maintain a continuous descent. I haven't tried it but apparently he has. You can check out his post for more details http://www.ocs-support.co.uk/forums/vie ... 234#p26234 |

THX Dan for the link. I'll try to follow Mike's idea and see if it's practical. cheers Bernd |

I can confirm this is my standard modus-operandi and it works, but it won't give instructions to descend all the way in one shot (if that is being asked for). It is simply my way of getting the descent to start in the right place as I never managed to get profiles to work well for slow-descending historic propeller airliners. From what I have read elsewhere, I think Dave has implemented (or is in the process of doing so) other ways of achieving this but it works for me. I place the TOD as a waypoint in my flight plan and adjust the settings in PF3 around that. Typically I will get instructions to descend to various levels as I progress downwards, with advice for the final altitude usually occurring just before or just after contacting approach. But as you know, the wonderful levels of random-ness Dave builds into the software makes sure that no two flights are ever the same in that respect. Best regards, John |
