Dave

Trying to reload the latest installer having 'reconnected' with Flight Sim after a long break, but the file won't unzip, stating the file is invalid?

<Topic moved here from Web Display support forum>

Please try downloading the file again using a different browser and report back if you are still having problems after that.

Thanks,
Martin

Thanks Martin for your suggestion. Tried it with Microsoft Edge with the same result.

There's nothing wrong with the zip file Rob. What are you using to extract the files?

HI, I have heard that windows unzip will not work with this. Try Winzip.
best wishes

I have tried 2 computers, 3 web browsers (Edge, Google & Firefox), I have tried turning off virus checkers, I have tried explorer, winzip for processing the install file, all without success.

Winzip states

'Cannot open file 'pf3_full_installer_v3.10.0.zip'. It does not appear to be a valid archive'

Windows explorer states it cannot open the file.....is invalid

Hi Rob,

Another user had the same issue a couple of weeks ago - can you please try the following to check the integrity of the zip file:

Open a Windows command prompt, no need to be administrator.
Switch to the folder where the zip file is, so probably 'cd Downloads'.
Run this command (assuming this is the correct filename): certutil -hashfile pf3_full_installer_3.16.0.zip MD5
This command will print a long MD5 hash string like this:
MD5 hash of pf3_full_installer_3.16.0.zip:
70d002dddc8dbcb2c8d7b32f3ab64a24

If the value printed on your system doesn't exactly match the value given here, then the zip file hasn't been downloaded correctly.
In that case you will need to try the download again until the MD5 hash matches - try turning off your AV temporarily.
(I also had this problem when I needed to reinstall PF3 the other week - the file download seemed to complete, but was actually faulty).

Hope this helps,
Martin

Edited at 16:18 - I gave the MD5 for the wrong file

Martin

The response to your suggestion met with this :-

C:\Users\2robp\Downloads>certutil -hashfile "pf3_full_installer_V3.16.0.ZIP"
SHA1 hash of pf3_full_installer_V3.16.0.ZIP:
e810456862271cc1a248d6f2fc3f3c0ea6256e9c
CertUtil: -hashfile command completed successfully.

I appreciate your help

Rob

You missed the 'MD5' at the end of the command, so this is a different checksum.
I've just used the same command on my 'correct' file, and get a different answer - so I think your file is incomplete.

I have used another zip program with different results

"An error occurred while trying to read the source file:The source file is currupted"
