Post subject:  IPC Timeout and Problem Connecting

Hi all,
I recently encountered an issue when attempting to use PF3. I uploaded a flight plan and made edits as normal and then attempted to connect to the sim as normal. Unfortunately this triggered two consecutive errors. The first was "IPC timed out all retries" and the second was "problem connecting to flight sim or flight sim/FSUIPC not running. I double checked and made sure that FSUIPC had started when I ran MSFS and also uninstalled and reinstalled FSUIPC with no results. I've attached the logs below. Please let me know if you have any thoughts. Thanks!

PF3 definitely could not see FSUIPC according to the log. Is this happening every time now?

Thank you very much for the quick reply. Unfortunately this has happened every time I've tried since this weekend. Nothing has changed with my system as far as I know and I've never had problems before. I went ahead and tried again this evening and have attached that log as well (in case more data points are helpful). Thank you again for looking into this!

Sorry, there was a stupid typo in my original answer... I should have typed... PF3 definitely could NOT see FSUIPC.

Have you checked in Task Manager to ensure FSUIPC is actually running?

You might like to use the attached program to check that FSUIPC is running - I wrote it to check a few things while I was developing Web Display.
If you unzip the file to a temporary directory and then run 'setup.exe' it will offer to 'install' the application.
If you continue then it will unpack the application and execute it (I don't believe that it actually installs anything, it links to the temp directory).

You will see the following if it is not possible to connect to FSUIPC:

If FSUIPC is running then it will instead output a few lines showing the current status of COM1 and the transponder.

Hope this helps,
Martin

Thanks for the suggestions. I checked the task manager and ensured the FSUIPC is running. I then tried your program and got a different error expected (#12). I have attached a screenshot of the full error below. Please let me know if you have any other thoughts. Thanks again!

OK, I believe that is exactly the same problem that PF3 is seeing. You could look in the FSUIPC log to see if there's any relevant information in there - you may need to enable some additional logging to see more details. If ther'e nothing obvious then I would suggest that you ask for assistance in the FSUIPC support forum as I don't believe that this is a PF3-specific issue: https://forum.simflight.com/forum/183-fsuipc7-msfs/

Thank you for your help! Based on discussion with the folks at FSUIPC this issue was related to not all permissions being the same. I was running MSFS as an administrator but PF3 normally.
