I'm trying to make a profile for the TFDI 717...It keeps saying that the panel is set to 0. I tried deleting the flaps section but that didnt work.

Ive done this before and Im usually able to get it to work.
This is the flap section.

[flaps.0]
type = 2
span-outboard = 0.95
extending-time = 9999
flaps-position.0 = 0
flaps-position.1 = 1
damaging-speed = 250
blowout-speed = 260
lift_scalar = 0.6
drag_scalar = 1.00
pitch_scalar = 0.5
system_type = 1

[flaps.1]
type = 1
span-outboard = 0.74
extending-time = 9999
flaps-position.0 = 0
flaps-position.1 = 3
flaps-position.2 = 6
flaps-position.3 = 9
flaps-position.4 = 12
flaps-position.5 = 15
flaps-position.6 = 18
flaps-position.7 = 20
flaps-position.8 = 25
flaps-position.9 = 40
damaging-speed = 250
blowout-speed = 260
lift_scalar = 0.55
drag_scalar = 1.00
pitch_scalar = 1.00
system_type = 1

I am not 100% sure on this, but you might try changing the "type=2" in the first entry to "type=1". I have never seen anything other than 0 or 1 but I don't pretend to understand the significance . . .

If that changes the error message, you may be on the right path, but i can see conflicting numbers of flaps given too - looks like you have 9, not 5, in the second section. It may be that both sections should correspond. I don't have many planes with multiple [flaps] sections, but here is one example I have found:
[Flaps.0]
type=1
system_type=0
extending-time=30
flaps-position.0=0,0
flaps-position.1=12.5,165
flaps-position.2=17  ,130
flaps-position.3=28  ,130
flaps-position.4=45  ,130
lift_scalar=0
drag_scalar=0
pitch_scalar=0

[Flaps.1]
type=1
system_type=0
extending-time=30
flaps-position.0=0,0
flaps-position.1=12.5,165
flaps-position.2=17  ,130
flaps-position.3=28  ,130
flaps-position.4=45  ,130
drag_scalar=0

[Flaps.2]
type=1
extending-time=30
system_type=0
flaps-position.0= 0,0
flaps-position.1= 0,165
flaps-position.2=15,130
flaps-position.3=22,130
flaps-position.4=45,130
lift_scalar=0
pitch_scalar=0

A bit more on the above . . . there's a useful page at https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/previ ... v=msdn.10)

The entry type=2 is OK, that indicates leading-edge flaps.

So maybe the the first thing to try is setting the number of flaps to correspond with the second flaps entry, which appears to be 9.

If that doesn't work and you have other planes that have leading edge flaps which work well with FDC, maybe compare the entries with those?

John

I did notice it also has this "Dial a Flap" setup...similar to PMDG's MD11,check my profile for a possible solution if not done so already.

I would love to! How do I check your profile? Do you mean that you have an Md11 profile that might work with the 717?

Ok I set the profile to 4 and it works! Yes there are 5 detents, but the first one is slats, and the next 4 are flaps...I guess FDC only knows flaps!
