Post subject:  Runways at EGCC?

Enroute from LFPG to EGCC ATC tells me to expect runway 6L (or 6R I can't remember). No worries check the arrival plate, no 6L or 6R but there is a 5L and 5R. FMC also confirmed runway is either 5L or 5R.
ATIS also mentions 6L or 6R.

Any ideas Dave?

Thanks

The reason will be the arrival plate and your FMC data are more recent than the AFCAD for the airport. If you are using FS9 the airport data is from 2002 I believe, so the magnetic heading has changed over time sufficiently to have the runways renamed. PFE will use data from the AFCAD (i presume) so will use the 6 R/L designation. If you update the AFCAD and update the PFE database it will use 05 L/R.

You most likely have 2 AFCADS installed for EGCC you need to find the out of date one and delete it, then rebuild the database in PFE.

Andy,
I am using FSX and I'm not sure where the AFCADS for EGCC are? I thought it would use the airport BGLfiles from MyTraffic X.

Simply search for *egcc* (the stars are important) in the main FSX folder and you should see a list of files with EGCC in their name. Filenames beginning with AF2, AFX or BR2 are actual AFCAD files, the others will be scenery components so do not delete them. For any duplicates simply rename the ones you don't want by adding .off at the end of the filename i.e. AF2_EGCC.bgl should be renamed to AF2_EGCC.bgl.off, those files will now be disabled.

Oh yes, almost forgot, if you want to keep the MTX AFCADS then you want to keep the BR2 files, although if you have a third party add-on for Manchester from the likes of UK2000 for example (excellent product by the way) then you will want to keep their AF2 file instead rather than the BR2 one from Burkhard Renk.

Furthur information, checked the EGCC Bgl file in MyTraffic with ADE 9X and found the designation is 6L or 6R. I need to find out how to use ADE to change the runway designation.

Ah well that explains it then, what version of MTX do you have.

Hi Andy,
Worked it out. The designators for the runway was 24/6 so I changed it to 23/5. I'm using the latest version 5.2 pro I think.
Maybe let Burkhard know the designation of the runways at EGCC is wrong.

Yes it would be good Andrew if you could let Burkhard know that you found this fault in his EGCC AFCAD, I use the UK2000 version now and my own custom AFCAD before that so never noticed the error.
