Hi Dave,
ILS into KTPA 19L. Received vectors but instructed to maintain 6500 ft. Fly over the threshold 4000 above the glideslope. Try again and descend on my own to intercept the GS. Instructed several times to maintain 6500 ft, but landing was handled well by the ILS system. ???

Your last waypoint is only 14 miles from KTPA and you have the altitude set at 6000'. I would suggest your last waypoint needs to be between 25-30 for best results. Also check your flight profile (altitudes) in PF3 before connecting to FS

In addition to Dave's points, if you do need to descend to an appropriate height, request it using the L key (and numbers) and you won't get nagged to climb again.

Greeting Dave & John,
Log will show same problem as previously reported. ATC does not adhere to my waypoint altitudes (didnt use L as just wondering if ATC ever would tell me to descend). Checked the waypoint distances and all seemed to be fine. ATC starts giving me vectors after last waypoint which is fine but Altitude is also critical.

Thank you for the log. I'm mow suspicious that this 'may' have something to do with your flight being below the control centre altitude, which of course should not cause any issue, but we'll see.

I would like you to either try this same flight, but with a cruise altitude of 9,000', which will ensure you are handed over to a control centre (you have that altitude currently set at 8,000') or alternatively change the control center altitudes to 5,000'. To do that you need to go to Options #3, Control Centre Mapping and Altitude Settings

Please let us know how you get on and include your log file again

Hi Again,
OK, adjusted control center altitude to 5000 and began flight at 9000. Using VPTH and altitude set to 3000. At top of decent AP took over and began to decrease altitude as instructed. Almost immediately ATC told me to maintain 9000 and continued to do as I was vertored to KTPA 19L. So even 3000 was to high and close to the runway and was unable to obtain GS. Messy landing but i did walk away. Now what?

A couple of things I noted from your log.

1. You never actually hit PLUMY and past it at greater than 5 miles, so it took a while for PF3 to realise that and bump to the next waypoint

2. You began your descent without ATC instructions. If you want to be a t a lower altitude on reaching PLUMY then you need to set that for KNEED

Hello,
I reworked the flight plan for KTPA 19L. Given vectors for 19R (OK) Still way to high on approach, and no descend instruction ( Just maintain 5500 Ft.) What is so unusual on this fligt is that I have no problems with other ILS landings, Flew into KDCA yesterday with no problems whatsoever. Go figure!

Hi there,
I would like to reopen this problem. Attached is a new log but still no descend instructions. I believe I have followed all proper way point and altitude requirements but would expect "decesnd to XXXX". Nothing from ATC excecpt vectors. Only happens at KTPA.
I have also done the flight VOR and do receive proper descend altitudes. Can we continue exploring?

I will try this flight tomorrow, using your flight plan and see what happens
