Hi David,
Following your earlier advice to tune UNICOM when in Free Flight Mode, I did tune the destination frequency 123.0 (KBKV) after last waypoint. No reponse to hotkeys 0 or 9. Huh? Thanks in advance.

You only use Unicom when departing from or landing at an uncontrolled airport. Your destination in this case has a Tower frequency so you would not use Unicom.

Frequencies for WP: 2 KBKV
Mul - 0
Uni - 123
Grd - 121.4
Twr - 118.55
Clr - 119.12
App - 136.22
Dep - 131.3
FSS - 122.3

If you are VFR Free-Flight you should contact destination Approach when you are getting close to the field. You can manually tune Approach frequency and check in, or if you are already in contact with Radar, you can use Hotkey 1 to trigger the handoff to destination Approach. Once in contact with Approach you will be advised the distance and direction to the field, and when you report the field in sight you will be handed to Tower. See p. 110 of the User Guide for more info.

Hi Dan,
Log should show that (per your response) I did try to contact Tower on 118.55, No response! Then I tried Approach,Nothing. Tried each frequency several times. Then my VCP dialed the Tampa Approach. Again nothing directed at me, though I could hear Tampa ATC directing other planes. PF3 is working fine on other flights I took this morning, go figure. So, I leave it to your skills to figure out what's going wrong. Thanks.

Good afternoon Dan,
Unfortuately the mystery deepens. Redid the flight with the same results but tuned to the Approach frequency you provided 133.225. Nothing. BTW where did you get that frequency? It's not on any of my charts (https://www.airnav.com/airport/KBKV). In any case that didnt work either. Silence from the tower and approach. I do get ATIS but that is all. Let's see what you can figure out. New log attached. Everything normal until I pass my waypoint KZPH

Sorry for the difficulties. PF3 in many cases uses its own frequencies that may not match the frequencies you see in charts, and sometimes PF3 needs to change frequencies to avoid potential conflicts. I think PF3 is changing the Approach frequency here to avoid a conflict. You should use the PF3 Display utility to confirm the frequencies in use. The program is pf3_display.exe located in your PF3_Displayer folder. It should be run after you have connected PF3 to the sim. Also you must check the 'Use PF3 Display' box in the Advanced Options to enable it. It will show the frequencies in current use for the departure and destination airports. This can be checked as often as needed during the flight. See the section on PF3 Display utility in the User Guide (p. 134).

When you run the Display utility during flight, click on the Dest Freqs at lower right to see the frequencies in current use for the destination airport. In this case, from your log

Frequencies for WP: 2 KBKV
Mul - 0
Uni - 123
Grd - 121.4
Twr - 118.55
Clr - 119.12
App - 120.75
Dep - 131.65
FSS - 122.3

So the destination Approach frequency was 120.75 for this flight. It may well be different if you try the flight again. Tune the appropriate Approach frequency from PF3 Display and use hotkey 0 to check in.

Hi Dan,
OK, makes sense and explains some other wierd frequencies that get tuned to but are not on charts. Unfortuately, it still didn't work.
PD3 Display shows 122.4 as Approach frequency. I dial that in after KZPH waypoint. VCP says nothing and there is no contact with KBKV. Could my VCP be asleep ? Latest log attached. Go figure!

According to the log, the Approach frequency for the destination was 124.32. I'm not sure where you got the 122.4. Did you get that by running pf3_display.exe when you reached KZPH? I can see where you tuned 122.4 but that was not the correct frequency.

Frequencies for WP: 2 KBKV
Mul - 0
Uni - 123
Grd - 121.4
Twr - 118.55
Clr - 119.12
App - 124.32
Dep - 122.32
FSS - 122.3

At the risk of trying your patience, when you try the flight again, run the pf3_display.exe program (located in the PF3\PF3_Displayer folder) when you reach KZPH. Click on 'Dest Freq' at lower right, and tune the Approach frequency displayed for the destination airport. You will then need to press hotkey 0 to make contact (your VCP won't do it). If it doesn't work we'll need to enlist Dave for more ideas because it should work.

Hey Dan,
Frustrated? somewhat but certainly not by you. You're doing all the work here. Did the flight again opening PF3 Display after reaching KBKV. Again no reponse or beep on "0". note it still gave me 122.4 as the frequency. I have attached screen shots which show the PD3 frequencies and my PDF showing com 1. And of course the log. BTW after clsoing PF3, I tried the frequency you said appeared in the previous log. Still nothing.
