Firstly, I would like to state what the problem ISN'T. It's not the version 2.0 issue, where PFE needs to be at exactly version 2.0 before the expansion pack will install. This what I have done so far: I have previously uninstalled PFE and have chosen to re-install as I saw a new 2.12 update is available. So far I have installed PFE and the cumulative update up to 2.11. I have installed the Vista 64 fix (I’m on Win7 64). When I went to install the voice pack, (the payware voices), it would not install due to PFE being higher than V2.0 I then did the PFE.exe mod to take it back to V2.0 temporarily. Here’s where I am stuck. The voice expansion pack asks for the path to install to, so I select the PFE folder. The serial number has been accepted at this stage with a message ‘REGISTRY SUCCESSFUL’ When I then click install, it instantly comes up with the message to start PF2K and close and then the ‘finish’ button is highlighted. IT should take several minutes to install all those voice files! It thinks it is installed but no files have been installed and the voice pack option is greyed out within PFE. I had this problem a long time ago, and had to uninstall files manually from the previous install. The post was on the old Avsim forum but I can no longer find it and I can’t remember.... I’m nearly 43 you know! I emailed Dave privately and followed his advise to install the new cumulative update 2.12 and download the voice pack again to fix the version 2.0 issue. I have done this but the issue still remains. Any advice more than welcome. Stu |

Did you turn off your anti virus software when downloading and installing though? 9 times out of 10 install problems are caused by corrupted installs brought on by AV software. |

Yes I did. Nod32 gives false positives otherwise. I experienced it with ownloading the cumulative update. All was well when NOD32 was disabled. Stu |

Stu, Been giving this some more thought and an email to Aerosoft support might be an idea, as they wrote the installer. If you don't get any response let me know and I'll talk to someone. My guess is there must be a registry setting the installer's checking and then assuming the install is already done. |

That registry setting idea rings a bell. I'll forward my email to aerosoft and let you know the result. The last time I had this problem I was on Xp pro SP3, so I'm comfortable it's not a Win 7 issue. Thanks Stu |

Dave, Here's the result of Aerosoft's support: Dear Customer, Can you check the dedicated PFE Support Forum at the link below for help and advice. viewforum.php?f=4 Theres a few posts there regarding installing the Voice Pack. With kind regards, Shaun Fletcher Aerosoft GmbH Flughafen Paderborn/L. D-33142 Bueren HRB1989 Paderborn GF: Winfried Diekmann I've explained to them I've already done that. They clearly didn't read my email in it's entirety. Stuart |

Dave, I had another response from Shaun at Aerosoft and he directed me to this advice: When installing your software for a second time the installer says that it is already installed after you know you removed it with the Add/Remove utility in Windows. Please try the following. Open the following folder. C:Program Files/InstallShield Installation Information folder, make a temp folder outside of this folder and move all the folders inside the InstallShield Installation Information folder into this temp folder then try re-installing. If it then re-installs fine move all the folders back out from the temp folder back to the original location. This is a "Hidden" folder so if you cant see it you will need to change the "Hidden File and Folder" option in Windows Explorer to show them. Did you give him a b**##*#ing? Any, short story even shorter, everything is now installed and working. Thanks very much Stu. Maybe worth making it a sticky? |
