Good Evening,

I have tried to fly this flight from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur in P3Dv5 about 7 times now and I can't work out what I am doing wrong. Given I have great experiences everywhere else, I can only conclude that the software can't handle this particular flight and it is probably because the airspace between Singapore and Malaysia is so close to Singapore.

Effectively, the flight transfers to Departures after taking off from Singapore and remains "stuck" with Departures until transfer to Approach nearing KLIA. So you get all these non sensical instructions.

The logs are attached. I did try a manual transfer to the Control Frequency on this flight (using PF3 display) but that did not work.

Kind regards,

Mark

You were initially cleared to FL 220 and then to FL 240, but you never got much above 7,000', which is why you were never handed off to a control center. You also ignored the nags to maintain FL 240

Hi Dave,

That is interesting if that is what the log says, as I did climb to FL220 and then FL240 and the nags were occurring telling me to climb to FL240 when I was already at FL240.

I was also getting reduce speed to 250 knot calls when I was past TOC at FL240. And the climb calls were along the lines of “leaving 6,000 climb FL240” but I was already at FL240.

So, it seems to think I am low, which is why there is no hand off to Control?

I can give you the flight plan if you wish?

I have thousands of hours across FSX, P3Dv4 and P3Dv5 with PF3, so I am reasonably conversant with it and have never come across this before. Operating back the other way KUL-SIN is no problem, the program is its normal self.

Kind regards,

Mark

Ah sorry, I just noticed you are running version 3.15.10 and that had a lot of altitude problems, including PF3 not converting from meters to feet. This was addressed in the latest version (3.15.12), which was released on 28/03/22

Please update and try again and I think you'll find the problem is magically resolved :)

Thanks Dave,

For some reason my PF3 is saying it is up to date at version 3.15.10 and selecting check for updates tells me I am up to date.

I have downloaded and installed the maintenance cumulative update and the program now shows 3.15.12.

However I have ran out of night so I will do a new flight tomorrow and see how I go! Will report back.

Thanks,

Mark

Hi Dave,

Thanks, I am back in business.

I am not sure why my system did not pick up the update to version .12 however its hotfix obtained by the cumulative update solved my problem. I now know to make that check in the future as until now, I have just relied on the prompt saying I have an update!

There is always a reason, I fly almost everyday and have used PF3 exclusively since 2017 so I was at a loss!

Thanks again.

Cheers,

Mark
