That is a basic error actually and nothing I programmed in... all I've done is trapped the error. Error 6 is an 'overflow' which means, for instance, I might have been expecting to read data into a variable assigned as a byte but the data was too large.

And have you checked the AutoPilot type setting in the performance file you're using and are you sure you are using that performance file? Remember user performance files appear at the end of the drop down listing, prefixed with the word 'User:'

I don't know if my memory is getting worse as I get older...
...I just can't remember how it used to be!

I'll double check again...

For the record this problem was report awhile back on Aerosoft's forum. I actually cut and pasted the same issue here as I could find little info on it.

http://www.forum.aerosoft.com/index.php ... entry51434

I guess whoever this was they gave up on the issue...

No idea whether they gave up or not. All I can say is does work and Dave Leesley has posted here to confirm that. Personally I don't have that aircraft so can't test it myself. It's not an aircraft I would want to use so have no intention of purchasing it unfortunately. I have tried on a number of occasions to get help at a developer level from PMDG but they either ignore such requests or simply refuse.

Wow, I've had the same experience...

Well here's another tid bit that may help. When FDC crashes is when it calls for something like 'strobe lights' or anything requiring my input. Usually I have the option to either turn 'on' what the checklist is asking for or skip it with the 'Shift-ESC' combination. With the 744F FDC crashes with an Error 6 message. I usually don't have strobe lights turned on at the ramp but what I'm going to try is turning them on before the checklist asks me to and see what happens. Maybe it's just a problem with the 'strobe lights' check and nothing else.

Well turning on the 'Strobe Lights' prior to FDC calling for them in the 'Before Pushback' checklist does nothing in stopping FDC from crashing with the 'Error 6' message...

As a process of elimination remove all the 'interactive' items from the checklist and then add them one-by-one till you find the culprit

The problem occurs only when 'Strobe Lights' and/or 'Nav Lights' are called for. No matter if the lights are 'on' or 'off' in the PMDG 744F FDC crashes just the same. No other interactive calls have a problem it's just these two light calls. No matter if I use the default checklist or Dave's mod the crash happens like clock work when these two light switch checks are called upon by FDC. :|

I have version 3.98a. I just updated a few days ago based on our conversation here...

I just want to say seeing we're in the middle of figuring this out that the support here is outstanding. Thanks for the continued help and I'm very confident we'll figure out what's happening here... ;)
