PF3 is crashing each time I hit the "Connect to FS" button. I'm using MSFS2020. When aircraft is loaded, I put in the flight plan and then start PF3. Select and load flight plan to PF3, click OK for "Waypoint too close" warning, click "Connect to FS" button and click "Yes" for the Live Weather option. PF3 stays running for 8 to 10 seconds or so then crashes abruptly with no warnings or advisory messages. It has been doing this since I purchased it. I have uninstalled and reinstalled PF3 and FSUIPC7 and both are in folder D:\FS Add-ons\. FSUIPC7 and PF3 are being run as administrator. FSUIPC is confirmed running in Task Manager. I have selected "Don't use skins" option. Event viewer shows faulting module as being in the dot.net frame so I ran a few file and system checks which all came up negative...ie no faults. (CHKDSK, sfc Scannow and DISM). I'm normally able to get around these issues ( FS user for over 20 years), but this has me stymied. I'm attaching the relevant files and a copy of Event Viewer read-out below. Any ideas?

Faulting application name: PF3.exe, version: 3.11.0.0, time stamp: 0x60fae38c

First thing to try is setting your Windows Regional setting to UK

There is also another possible issue for those using non UK English Windows Regional Settings which can cause (a) PF3 to supposedly crash and/or (b) being unable to load a flight plan, resulting in an invalid string error in the FPP log.

Required change:

Open 'Windows Settings'

Select 'Time & Language'

Select 'Language' in the left column

Select 'Administrative language settings' from the right-hand column

From the popup display (under 'Language for non-Unicode programs') select 'Change System Locale' - then select 'English UK' for the 'Current System Locale'

Select 'OK' to confirm then exit Windows settings.

You 'may' have to restart Windows at this stage.

Please retry PF3 and let us know how you get on

That change worked for me and PF3 is now running fine. Many thanks for the help.

The computer was set at English(US) so I changed this to English(UK) as advised. Initially the problem was still there with PF3 suddenly stopping so I :) re-checked the Settings and noticed a check-box "Beta: Use Unicode UTF-8 for worldwide language support". I had this box checked from a previous tweak so I unchecked it and lo and behold, PF3 was working perfectly!

I've also been experiencing this. I've tried changing the settings with the language also uninstalled/reinstalled PF3 multiple times with the same result and error code. Also everything is set to run as an admin.

It appears you have some system DirectX files missing so would suggest the following:

Download the Microsoft DirectX for Managed Code Runtimes, using the following link:-

http://www.ocs-support.co.uk/downloads/ ... ntimes.zip

Once downloaded you need to unzip the content into a temporary folder anywhere on your system, then run the downloaded EXE. You will be prompted for a location to copy the extracted files into, so just choose the same temp folder.

Once that's done go into the temp folder and right-click the 'DXSetup.exe' program and then select 'Run as Administrator'

This will NOT alter any of your currently installed DirectX files but merely installs any missing runtimes in parallel
Once the DirectX Runtimes are installed please try running PF3 again and connecting to FS and let me know what happens. You can also delete the downloaded runtimes and temp folder if you wish
