Hi Dave, I got a PFE message that told me that I have to verify a suspected bad installation.

So I follow your instructions on that topic: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=22

But I don't have XInstall3.exe in my PFE main folder, I have only the first file.

What I have do to?

I suspect that your anti virus software has deleted/quarantined the file thinking that it is a virus. Disable your anti virus software, remove then reinstall PFE with the version you downloaded from your vendor, then Download the accumulative update HERE from this post to bring you back up to 2.11, followed by using the automatic update feature to bring you back to version 2.11.1.

Hi Andy, I don't use any AV on my system. I suppose that just after I've upgraded to 2.11 from 1.82 (original started version) with cumulative installer you suggested me, the update_installer deleted XInstall3.exe. So I can't execute the procedure Dave suggest on "pinned" topic.

Sincerely I got that suspected bad installation message, just after starting PFE, but PFE seems to work correctly...

Dave will have to take over from here as that's the limit of my understanding reached for the PFE installer :)

The installer does not remove the XInstall3.exe file and you do not need it to use PFE with FSX of FS9

If you are still getting the 'bad installation' message then your installation IS NOT COMPLETE! I would suggest you run the cumulative installer again but this time follow the Method #2 option in the readme to complete the installation manually.... that way you will see any error messages if Windows is complaining about something. When you do so please ensure you have ALL other applications/programs CLOSED, especially any AV or other security type products.

Hi Dave, thanks for reply. Only yesterday I got the "bad installation" message. Then I follow your istruction:

1) I install the first file

2) Not apply XInstaller3.exe, because I don't have it

3) download and apply the third file

Untill now I hasn't got any more that "bad installation" message, is it normal? PFE seems to works correctly.

Have I to reinstall anyway the cumulative_update in the second method in your opinion?

If you no longer have that message appearing then everything will be okay
