I tried something a bit ambitious after watching the Maddog YouTube clip on how to fly it properly. Flight was a long one at night from LIML Milan to LICR Reggio-Calabria ending with the Italian equivalent of the Kai Tak Chequerboard approach. In this case PF3 ATC tried to vector me to the airport. I tried to carry out the approach and comply with the Approach Controller but got thoroughly confused and ended up being vectored into the high ground adjacent the airport.

Is there a way to have ATC up to the FAF (eg the RCA VOR) and then allow the pilot to fly the rest of the approach on his own? In this case I admit I should have practiced it a few times on my own using either Maddog Instructor Panel or FSiPanel and in daylight but when I do get the hang of it I would like the option to fly the approach as published.

Cheers

Peter

Yes indeed, hit Hotkey #1 for 'Request Cleared To Final At Pilot's Discretion'
