Oh my word. I've had exactly the same issue.
Keyboard is Polish (programmer) and the default hotkey didn't work for me either. Had to change it to numpad '/' too for it to work :)
But that was a long time ago and didn't bother to post it as an issue.

Skivster - glad to hear your comment. Being that there were at least two of us with this same issue and solution, this will be a good fix to pass on to others.
