Hi, I do not understand why I am getting a message saying "option not available " when I am following my flight plan and I hit CTRL+SHIFT+D. I am flying from CYQB (Quebec City) to CYOW (Ottawa City), flight plan YQB DCT UDBAM DCT DICEN DCT NOSUT DCT ALIDO. I am flying IFR using the aerosoft twin Otter. Why dont I have the possibility to go from YQB direct to NOSUT? Pierre |

Please ZIP and attach your PF3 Debug Log from your PF3\Logs folder so we can see what's happening. Without the log we have no idea. If you've done another flight since the problem please include the OLD debug log also. If you have done more flights then please recreate the problem flight then send the log file |

Hi, I just finish the same flight and this time the direct-to option worked. So this is solved. On more question, if I change my flight from IFR to VFR before I takeoff, does PF3 still expect me to flight my plan and follow each of the waypoint? If yes, how do you flight VFR without having to follow any plan? Pierre ![]() |

You need a flight plan with at least one waypoint, even for VFR flights. You can navigate visually but still need a flight plan. See the following: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=3139 |

Ok thanks i will try that. One more thing if I takeoff from CYQB and I flight IFR for the two first waypoints. Then if I decide to switch to VFR, do I contact FSS? Thank Dan |

Yes. If there is no designated FSS frequency use the default frequency 122.2. Also, Center altitude (by default 8000 feet unless you have changed it) is the upper limit for VFR in PF3. If you are above this altitude you must remain IFR. |

Hi, I am practicing with IFR/VFR flight and I have a few questions: 1- If I start using a IFR plan that include a destination and I ask to fly VFR, do PF3 expect me to fly the waypoint in the fly plan. Yesterday I loaded the following flight plan CYQB (Quebec City) to CYOW (Ottawa City) with the following waypoints (YQB DCT UDBAM DCT DICEN DCT NOSUT DCT ALIDO), I requested to fly VFR just after YQB by contacting FSS and that worked. After a few minutes I received a message that I was X miles from my plan route. Why, if I am VFR, do I have to follow my submitted plan? 2- I also wanted to land at a different airport then my plan destination and my alternate. So how do I instruct PF3 that I want to land at a different airport then plan? Today I was once again flying CYQB (Quebec City) to CYOW (Ottawa City) and I experience severe thunderstorm, so I try to contact CYUL (Montreal Trudeau), I tried every com frequency for the airport by I could connect with them to ask for landing instruction. How do I do this? Thanks Pierre |

1. You can turn the Airway deviation warning OFF under Options #1, but you really are still expected to adhere to your flight plan even when flying VFR. 2. You cannot change the destination airport during your flight. If you're having problems you could always declare an emergency and ATC will guide you to the nearest suitable airport |

Ok I understand, would it be a big deal to add that feature for people who fly GA and just when to fly with no precise destination? O r even when you experience bad weather and have to land, this is not a real emergency. You land let the cold front pass and then you takeoff again. Again thanks for the help, i really like your software. Pierre |
