Can you please tell me why the ATC was nagging me to reduce my speed to '0' (zero) when on approach and final please? If this is right, please tell me what the actual speed they meant me to come down to bearing in mind this aircraft needs to land at 120 knots to ensure it doesn't come down before reaching it. As it was, the cross-wind on approach was pretty bad and blowing me all over the place. Log attached. John |

Looks like a bug, although I don't think I have seen this yet.
or select an approach speed in the aircraft profile. |

Yes, well, two points: 1. This is the first time I've ever had this so why not before? 2. I fly a variety of aircraft, mainly determined by the distance I'm going so its not really practical to keep changing the Option in 2 but I'll have a go. If it keeps crying out I'm going too slow when landing the Cessna 172 or flying too fast when I'm landing a fast jet at 140 I'll be just as fed up with that as putting up with instructions for a zero landing speed. Maybe I'm misunderstanding as usual Thomas but thanks for your suggestion and if it is a bug will it get fixed in the update that's coming up soon? John |

As Thomas suggested, select a final approach speed and save it in the aircraft profile. You can create as many aircraft profiles as you wish and select the desired profile at the upper right of the "Select a Flight Plan" screen, at the time you load your flight plan. (See User Guide pp. 54-55.) |

If the final approach speed is turned off then PF3 checks the aircraft.cfg. It could also be an anomaly with that that forces PF3 to return a zero. As said the best option is to set-up an aircraft profile and set the approach speed in that. For jet transports set 160kts, turboprops 150kts, Concorde 190kts. These speeds are typical of the speeds that real ATC will call for descending on the glideslope. If you are a heavy reduce your speed from the profile approach speed to Vat+5(or one third of crosswind component) at 6DME. Otherwise slow down to Vat at 4DME. |

Ok - I'll try that. Thanks. John |
