Hoptkey - 6

I've searched the manual and can't find the answer to this.

I know I'm ignorant but can you tell me please the meaning of FSS and if I click on the hotkey how to navigate to it. :?

Many thanks.

If there is no Clearance frequency at your departure airport, contact FSS (Flight Service Station) to open your flight plan. Use the FSS frequency for the airport as displayed on the kneeboard when you connect, or if none, use 122.20. See PF3 Display utility for hotkey commands (e.g., hotkey 0 for open flight plan).

Thanks for that explanation Dan.

I could have done with knowing that today. I planned to fly IFR and got throught the business of finding the runway and getting radio permission to take off. But then I didn't receive any instructions for about 20nm and was getting a bit concerned. I might just as well been flying VFR. :?

Don't know how I did it but then I found I was unintentionally flying VFR and then couldn't get back to IFR.

I fiddled about and then the program packed up, so frustrated, I did something else for the rest of the afternoon.

You can post the logs and perhaps we can find out what happened. You can toggle your flight plan IFR/VFR using hotkey 6 (when tuned to FSS). Also, to clarify what I said above: If there is no Clearance frequency, Ground will issue your clearance when you tune Ground and hit hotkey 0. Similarly, Tower will issue your clearance if there is no Clearance or Ground frequency.

To be truthful, I think it was me that caused it to pack up this time. Pressing too many buttons and not waiting long enough for it to respond.

I think the simulator gave up in disgust!
