trying the controllerXR function:
3green in the taskbar
FSX in Beechcraft (or C172) Panel mode
pressed Activate in Detect Controller
Select 2 not configered buttons (FSX or FSuipc) on my MS Sidewinder #05 #07
No of Buttons detected: 2
Finish detection / you have configured 2 Controller buttons / Yes
Controller Button Assignment shows #05 #07
Set a mode
'Press the controller button': nothing
'Press the keys you wish to assign': nothing
when opening again Detect Controller Buttons, it says there: no of buttons detected = 0
in Controller Assignments though, there's still the #5 and #7, doing nothing

what am I missing?

EDIT: BTW it only recognizes my MSSiderwinderPro, not the Yoke nor any Quads buttons / everything is defined by FSuipc, but Controllers is Enabled in FSX, with all button definitions deleted

FDC on notebook Vista32 WideFS 6.787 and active
FSX SP2 on Win7 Ultimate x64
FSuipc 4.556 paid
Saitek Yoke Rudder 3Quads MSSidewinderPro

The controller you are trying to use with ControllerXR must be the first in the list (Joystick #0) if you have more than one connected

Well I'm afraid I'm stumped. I've never used multiple joystick/controllers. Maybe it just doesn't like that joystick although if FSUIPC is recognising it so should ControllerXR because it simply uses FSUIPC anyway. Plus, if FDC detects the buttons there's no reason why it wouldn't detect them again during the key assignment process.

I assume you are doing all this from your main (FS) pc keyboard

detects the Buttons now in Key Assignment. It doesnt detect the Key assignment

Affirmative. In the Key Assignment, I hit f.i. #5 and this lights up, but when I then push F5 or F8 on the FSX keyboard to assign to the button; nothing

What about FDC hotkeys? Please go to the Hotkeys display page and check to see if you can change any of the listed keys there

Had some trouble with these in the past, but seem to work after a fresh reinstall. I deleted most definitions because they 1. interfere with PFE (CS-W; overide runway), 2. sometimes (when a FSX situation saves badly??) cause the "you've run out of hotkey space" error, and that situation won't load, so only SHFT-ESC and CRTL+Spacebar are On, as a precaution.

OOPS, see what you mean, I was pushing the keys on the FSX box, and should be on the notebook running FSC

BUT
test: have #5 and #7 unassigned in both FSuipc-buttons and FSX-controls
define both: '.' (brakes) with the notebook keyboard & in all 9 modes

have 747 at the gates, parking brake on
press either #5 or #7: nothing

??
