Depending on the character of a SID / STAR (runway specific or not; ATC vectors to be expected before the SID / after the STAR or not) it might be necessary to include or to exclude the SID / STAR waypoints in the flightplan loaded into PF3 for a realistic experience. For example with a non runway specific STAR that leads to a waypoint after which ATC vectoring is to be expected, the STAR waypoints have to be included in PF3 and the STAR option unticked. So PF3 will give vectors after the last STAR waypoint (without the waypoints included the vectoring would already come at the start of the STAR). In contrast, with a runway specific STAR that leads to a final approach fix the STAR waypoints should not be included and the STAR option ticked. So PF3 will clear me for the STAR and I can fly any STAR I like and thus can cope with runway changes due to weather (which I couldn't when the STAR waypoints would have been included in the flightplan because I would have had to fly the whole STAR to the "wrong" runway before PF3 clears me for the approach). The problem is that the flightplanning software I know (EFASS and PFPX) don't offer an option to include / exclude the SID / STAR waypoints in the exported .pln-file. For example PFPX includes the SID / STAR waypoints in the exported .pln-file (whereas these waypoints are not included in the flp-file exported for the Aerosoft Airbus). So now I have to first deselect the SID and/or STAR before exporting the .pln-file and after exporting I have to reselect the SID / STAR because I want to have them for my flight briefing / dispatch release (for proper fuel planning and to program the MCDU). Alternatively I can include SID and STAR in the export and manually delete the waypoints in the .pln-file in Editor/Notepad. A most simple way to handle this would be if I could just delete / deactivate the waypoints in the "Adjust altitudes ... for selected Flight Plan" page of PF3. So I could always leave the SID and STAR included in the flightplanning software and only when setting up PF3 decide if the waypoints should be included for PF3 or not. Since altitudes, SID Entries/STAR Exits, Holdings and Oceanic boundaries can be entered there I imagine it not too hard to implement to just disregard some of the waypoints. Thank you and best regards Ralf |
