Post subject: | Setting FAF height |
Good day everyone, I am just after a quick clarification after reading the manual. If I set the FAF height in the SID's and Star's section using the up and down arrows below the "Enter Airport ICAO" this will override the FAF height which is in the "Options 2 & Advanced options" section? Is that correct? Also is there a way one I have adjusted all the parameters that I can back a file which stores this information and also parking info? Thank you for the recent update BTW! I have been really enjoying using PF3 Cheers Rob |

Correct. Reserverd parking positions are simple text files in the directory PF3/Data/Parking/. SIDs, STARs and other runway/airport configurations are stored in database files in the PF3/Data/ directory, but I don't know exactly which file contains which information. There are other interesting files inside the Data directory, feel free to take a look at those who are human-readable text files. |

Thanks for the reply ThomasAH. I'll have a look in that data folder, I generally don't go poking around in the gubbings that makes it work, I believe if it ain't broke don't go digging around in folder ![]() Rob |

Sorry another question! Is that FAF height you enter MSL or AGL or AFL? Cheers Rob |

The global value is AGL (so it works with as many airports as possible by default), the per-airport value is MSL (so you can enter the value from your charts). |

The FAF height is not height it is altitude. All FAF values quoted on all charts are thus and are therefore QNH. So if/when you set your FAF PF3 will ask you to descend to that. So you must set the correct QNH and descend to the FAF according to the QNH set. |

Many thanks for the info vololiberista, I've been tweaking all my airports and I have to say it's making flying way more enjoyable. No more altering FAF altitudes with every flight !! Cheers Everyone:) |
