I use the ACARS ATIS and tune into the Airport ATIS during my flights and it also seems to be off compared to what AS16 is telling me, on a recent flight to KMDW the whole way the ACARS ATIS was telling me RW 13L in use, when I got in range the airport ATIS said RW 13L in use aswell, then they just decided to give me RW 22L out of the blue. I don't use AI. This was the Metar KMDW 141953Z 18009KT 10SM SCT250 19/06 A3017 RMK AO2 SLP216 T01890056, so the 22 was not a bad choice but why show 13L the entire way. I wish PF3 could read active sky directly, I would like to know the approach for sure about 20min out. |

In AS16 Options/Wind options, set Force ATC wind lock to enable. Under General Options set Prevent Downloads on approach to True. |

Your ACARS ATIS request at 3:22:31 showed 13L, but at 3:24:08 your second request showed 22L. But the later audio ATIS showed 13L again. Yes, that's a bit surprising, but I don't know if reading weather from AS16 would help here. Did you load your flight plan in AS16? (can be done automatically) Did you try using "Force ATC wind lock"? |

I will try the wind lock option. I wish during the approach phase something could be improved for a less confusing landing. |

It's also a good idea to load the weather into the sim before starting PF3. That way you can check (as your are "supposed to" lol) that the QNH and wind direction in the sim match the weather engine. Then start PF3. |

Yes, this is important for the departure, but MrSpeaker was talking about the destination. |

You might want to look at this topic viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1981&hilit=Acars+Atis where I shared my findings about weather in the sim. As long as PF3 reads the weather from the sim and not from the weather engine, the destination ATIS of PF3 is unreliable until you are about 50 nm to your destination. You should only use the AS2016 weather report until then. Probably that's why AS2016 included its own ATIS frequency. And you should set the AS2016 settings as Bob posted before to make sure there are no surprises on approach. |

Thanks for the link. Maybe Pete Dowson could be convinced to deliver weather information in FSUIPC based on AS16 (and possibly other weather engines), so it does not have to be implemented in PF3 and multiple other add-ons, but just in one single place? |
