Post subject:  Taxi to Terminal

It's not too much of a problem but on my last few flights, instead of giving me a gate to go to to park, I get the 'taxi to terminal' instruction. It seems since the update?

I would rather not reserve a gate or parking spot as with my most used airports it would rapidly become a bit boring, so, I was wondering if someone could point me the way to get the magical mystery tour back? :)

Many thanks.

If PF3 can't find a suitable, empty, parking spot, or if it can't find a valid taxi route... maybe a broken path or something like that, you will get the default 'Taxi to terminal.

Ah, I see.

I must admit, there are usually quite a lot of aircraft parked and going in and out of the airports I fly to so parking spaces are probably at a premium.

Thanks Dave.

Post subject:  Re: Taxi to Terminal

I am always told to 'taxi to terminal', (before, and after 3.2.0), at every single airport, rather than any specific gate. When I arrive there are always plenty of suitable gates/parking spots empty (I have traffic set to about 33% usually), so I have no idea why this happens. I was hoping for a 'fix' at some stage... or maybe I have settings wrongly configured (though I don't think there are any user settings for this).

The designating parking works, but with only 'one size fits all' (so far - Dave has said he will provide more options in a future update, e.g. for small, medium, large and cargo a/c), you have to explore the AFCAD and then change the designated gate for different sizes of aircraft before you fly, so I don't use it for more than a few airports. I taxi to the terminal and choose any of the empty spaces there.. not a big deal but not really what happens in the real world of course! :)

I recall using the demo a couple of months back I would get assigned a parking space. What happen?

In Options #1 you can select the desired parking spot size (dropdown: Ramp GA, Ramp GA Small, ..., Gate Large)

Also, if you have the Gate Parking Only option (in Options #2 > Advanced Options and INI File Tweaks) ticked, you are more likely to get the "Taxi to Terminal" instruction. I experimented with this a bit and prefer this option turned off, but it's a matter of preference and depends on your AI levels and gates/stands/parking areas at your airports.

The Gate Parking Only option prevents commercial jets being sent to small, out-of-the-way GA parking spots, so I always have it on...

'Gate Parking Only option (in Options #2 > Advanced Options and INI File Tweaks)'

Yep, that's done it. Got my parking instructions back again...at least in Peretola, Florence anyway.

Unlike Martinlest I never fly commercial jets. The largest I fly is the Phenom 300 and the Turbine Duke so it works for me.

In the way of an edit.

Now I find I'm always given a parking gate to taxi to which seems as far away from the Terminal as one could get. My passengers complain all the time and my co-pilot hates having to walk too far in those heels she wears.

I didn't think I was either that dangerous, or even that well known internationally besides which my passengers complain all the time and my co-pilot hates having to walk too far in those heels she wears.
