| Hi all, I've been flying recently in the Scandinavian countries, from Oslo to Copenhagen to Stockholm to Helsinki and finally to St. Petersburg, and I've noticed quite a bit of inconsistency between altimeter settings given by center. To my knowledge, North America and a few islands are the only areas to use inches mercury, most of the rest of the world uses millibars. Would it be possible to have a toggle that switches the default to millibars, and make inches the exception? |

| Select Options #1 screen, then (at the bottom) the Trans Alt & Alt Baro Calls screen. By ticking the boxes you can select the regions you would like to have baro calls in millibars. |

It's a good idea if you can provide your log files especially the files in the flight\fpp directory as that contains a .json file. Dave can look at the region in which you are flying through amd change it to millibars. Quite often with islands especially everything reverts to FAA because in the original PF2000 FAA was pretty much the global default. So as and when pilots come across these annomalies we can change them. I had one recently in Greece. One part of Greece was ICAO and the other part was FAA. Dave has changed that since. |

| Hi, Thanks for the response. I have set all my regions to Millibars except Canada and the US. I'm including files for my current flight from St. Petersburg (ULLI) to Moscow (UUMO), in which they are giving me inches mercury as the altimeter, though I have the box for Russia checked to use Millibars. I still feel like with so much of the world using millibars it would make sense to use that as the default, if possible. |

You are right to think that the default should be millibars. But, unfortunately there are still hundreds of regions large and small that fall outside and revert to FAA. Particularly noticeable over island territories. The beta team has picked up loads so what you have now is a huge improvement. Having said that there are still many more and the only way is to fly over those regions and maintain a listening watch for pressure expressed in inches, "point" instead of "decimal", and incorrect altimeter settings as any "faulty" FAA territory defaults to 18,000ft as the transition level too. And then report inconsistencies here with the FPP directory files zipped. |

| Hi, Thanks for the information. I just flew from UUMO to UKKK, and had another occasion of mixed altimeter readings. Takeoff and landing used millibars, but about the middle third used inches mercury. I'll attach the FPP files and add to this post each time it occurs, if that's the best way to inform you. I'm trying to fly around the world with P3D and A2A's Cessna 172, so I should be visiting a lot of different areas. |

It's the best way because a lot of these areas are obscure and will only be picked up by someone flying through them. What you have come across is a common feature where two islands are ICAO but the bit in between is FAA. I hasten to add this is not Dave's or PF3's fault. It's a legacy issue and also where the json files do not have the correct information to give to PF3. |

| Hi, Another leg from Odessa, Ukraine to Istanbul, Turkey. The first half of the flight, including all calls on the ground in Odessa were in inches, the 2nd half were in millibars. |

| Here's another FPP, from Corfu to Sofia. Most of the flights I've had are a combination of millbars and inches so far, but I haven't always remembered to save the FPP before I fly again and it gets overwritten. Usually it seems to happen when I'm talking to a generic 'control' or 'radio', not when I'm talking to a named control center. |
