This is just a question.

I've just flown VFR from EGAA Aldersgrove to EINN Shannon and during most of the flight the Air Traffic Controllers have continually offered to change the flight to IFR at a lower altitude.

My co-pilot simply acknowledges this which is fine but I want to ask; Is this a feature of PF3, or as is more likely, am I doing something wrong?

When VFR if you go above the transition altitude for that area you will be expected to change to IFR

Basically if you are "not" in uncontrolled airspace (find a copy of the UK 1:500 000 Aeronautical Chart for tha area you want to fly) then you must fly IFR. In real life you can file an IFR flight plan in flight if you are currently VFR. Or alternatively (again in real life) SVFR "Special VFR" Which is PPR (prior permission required) which is used for crossing controlled zones such as airport TMAs. These are the UK CAA requirements which are much stricter than the FAA.

Ah, I see. Not being a real life pilot I didn't know any of that.

Now I've got to learn (from the manual) how to change to IFR wile in flight!

Thanks both.
