I've noticed when flying IFR, PF3 doesn't guide the pilot on to approach, final, or give landing clearance like FSX & P3D ATC does.

Is this correct?

Sounds like you have set up PF3 incorrectly.
First to what flight are you referring? Second we need to see the logs for that flight to see how you set it up and if there is another problem.

Do you still have the STARs option ticked? Be certain you have un-ticked the STARs option at the bottom of the SIDs/STARs page or you will not get vectors.

I've got the Sids/Stars unticked.

Just flew IFR into Sydney from Melbourne.

Apart from altitude and speed PF3 stopped giving me directional instructions from the time they gave me the runway, 34L in this case.

So I went well past Sidney and then pressed '7' for vectors. That was then fine and the Phenom latched on to the 'Approach' and took me down with the ATC permission to land.

So, it seems we have to ask for Vectors with IFR flights?

The log is from a VFR flight El Prat (LEBL) to Marseille/Provence (LFML).
You can check the timestamps of the file to see if they are relevant for your flight (in this case it was August 27th)

John, the logs and the above clearance "at pilot's discretion" indicate that the STARs option at the bottom of the SIDs/STARs page is still ticked. At CORDO you will be cleared to final at pilot's discretion and will not receive further vectors. Check again to be sure the STARs option is un-ticked and re-try the flight. At CORDO you should then get vectors to the active runway.

Well, I'm damned. I definitely ticked that 'x' off, but you're right, it's on.

There's nothing else there, so what the hell did I tick off?

I'm blaming age!

Sorry.

I think you probably un-ticked SIDs and left the STARs active. No worries.
