Post subject: | IFR Request Vector Questions |
Hi everyone ![]() I have 2 questions regarding request vectors: 1. Is there a possibility to get vectors from the runway to the first DP waypoint? There are some DP that include a vectoring from the runway heading to the first waypoint and it would be cool to be able to do that in PF3! (Example AKRON3 in Detroit http://ottomanva.com/lib/charts/KDTW.pdf) 2. What's the condition for requesting vectors? Being on approach freq is not enough as I still get unable at this time sometimes. Just trying to understand more when it is appropriate. And a bit unrelated: When exactly do I have to request runway changes/overrides for both departure and landing? I tried it once right after getting the clearance to land (No Star) but there was no response I guess that is too late. Thanks a lot for your help! David |

1. Currently no, but I'll add it to my list of things to consider ![]() 2. Once you pass your last waypoint in the flight plan it's unlikely you will get vectors because Approach will already be vectoring you by then 3. As soon as you can after being given a departure/landing runway. With regard to departures, if you're using TGS, you would have to toggle it off (Hotkey #1) before request the runway change, then toggle it back on again to start your taxi |

Thank you very much David. Especially the bit about turning TGS off helped! ![]() |
