I see there's a problem if PF3 sees a 'fake' FSX.EXE file in the root folder, and I understand why, but is there any way round this?

The Migration Tool uses the fake exe and cannot work without it.

I have already addressed it for the next maintenance release but for now you need to rename FSX or FSP exe's. Am I right in thinking you only need to use the migration tool when adding scenery, etc? If so I guess it's not too much of a problem.

In theory, its mainly only needed for installing addons yes, but also adds numerous shortcuts into the P3D root folder. You're right though, that wouldn't actually stop us renaming or moving the fsx exe. Just means having to remember the opposite when using the tool;-)

Used PFE for years and love it. Havent yet taken the plunge for the PF3 registration, but I will. Too may addons and not enough money;-)

Actually, thinking about it, this only causes a problem the very first time you run PF3, because at that point it doesn't know what sim you are using and has to wait for you to select the Database Rebuild, once you've done that you're good to go and the FSX.exe or FS9.exe in the P3D folder won't cause you any problems... unless you delete your PF3.INI file, which is the same as starting over.
