Post subject:  "Ready for departure" possiblity?

The vcp says "ready for takeoff" when contacting tower at the active, in real life ICAO phraseology it should be "ready for departure"

Can this be changed in PFE phraseology?

Thanks. I think ICAO changed it to "departure" in light of the Tenerife disaster, the pilot can only say the word "takeoff" when the ATC says it first ie. "you are cleared for takeoff."

In my flying days I would be "cleared to taxi to active runway" If I was VFR I would tell "Tower" ..."Tower Cessna N7AL ready for takeoff" In this case Clearance for Takeoff depends on traffic...
If I was IFR I would tell the Tower "Cessna N7AL ready for IFR release. (or departure)..
The tower would not release me to takeoff until it had ATC clearence..

The calls and replys at the "active" runway departure point depend a lot on VFR or IFR flight...

PFE should note the difference...??? Not sure it does..

Another thing that should be more accurate is when ATC give the instruction for immediate take off. The correct reply is "Ready immediate" not "cleared for take off" This tells ATC that the a/c will taxi onto the rwy and not hang around while the crew are opening up their thermoses.

I don't think I ever used that reply in my life...Words and phrases are not that exact and vary with controllers and locations...
When "Cleared for immediate takeoff" I have heard: Roger, Rollin', Cleared.... and a few others...
Commands and replys need to be somewhat Random or PFE will become too robotic..

Roger, Rollin' is not correct and you would fail your RT exam in the UK if you said that. "Cleared for immediate" is relatively random in PFE and should be met with the correct prescribed reply.

Well... I don't fly in the UK... I passed my Commercial and IFR written tests...Here in the USA..
I can only relate to my real world experiences...A lot has to do with traffic and locations within the USA... Controllers do vary their phrases with the size of the airport...And pilots do use a "verbal shorthand" all the time.....KSFO (San Francisco) will sound a little different than KPOC a small GA field..I know because I have been in and out of both..
