Here is another flight, 30 miles out roughly, slowed to 140. |

Did this issue get resolved? It appears to have been left open-ended here. In my little world I too fly old propeller airliners and came up exactly the same issues - I was told to slow to a point where I would expected to be heading for the ground tail-first. It is my opinion that the flight profiles in PF3 do not work correctly for propeller aircraft and that large propeller airliners are being treated like GA aircraft. I haven't tested to death to prove that point, though. However, I have managed to get things running perfectly by not using the profiles but the settings in Option 2 > Advanced Options and INI file tweaks, by ticking the final approach speed and setting the figure to 20 (10 may prove better with further experience). The real problem seems to lie with the [Reference Speeds] section of each aircraft's aircraft.cfg file. In the case of propeller airliners I found almost all were listed at an extremely low figure. The equivalent Lockheed Constellation I use (not the A2A one) has a safe level approach speed of 156 knots yet was set at 88 knots in the aircraft.cfg - changing this to 146 solved the problem. Larger Constellations and other large airliners have to approach faster, typically 160-170 knots and a suitable change for all of these has seen the end of bizarre speed calls. As by nature such lumbering aircraft have to make a long and slow descent, it is actually rare to get any speed instructions at all now. So the solution seems to lie in the aircraft.cfg file. Hoping this helps. John |
