Hi, I'm using Norton Internet Security 2010.

I've tried reinstalling with the Firewall off and the Antivirus off, but still no joy getting FDC to launch.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Chris

Norton security is renowned for removing programs and I believe you have to configure it to specifically exclude complete folders

Hi. I've tried excluding my entire H Drive where I am trying to install FDC, and I have also excluded my C (Vista) drive from scanning during install and execution, as well as allowing the executables direct access to the internet and running Norton in Silent mode.

However, the program still won't run.

I have paid more attention to Process Monitor is stating during execution. Below are events that I think could be an issue:

C:\Users\Chris\AppData\Local\Temp\~DFAIAA.tmp
~DFB809.tmp
~DF263.tmp
All of the above come up 'Name not found'

Reg OpenKey HKLM\Software\Microsoft\WOW64 'Name not found'

Query Open H:\Aerosoft\FDC\MSUBUM60.dll 'Name not found'

H:\Aerosoft\FDC\uxtheme.dll 'Name not found'

H:\Aerosoft\FDC\FDC.exe.Local 'Name not found'

H:\Aerosoft\FDC\Flightdeck_Companion.exe 'Buffer Overflow'

Open RegKey HKLM\Software\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\CTF\Compatibility\flightdeck_companion.exe 'Name not found'

I hope the above means something to you. The responses may not be in error, but may give a clue to the problem.

I can't figure how to disable Norton more than I have done, and I must admit it hasn't previously given issue and I have alot of addons.

Any more ideas/suggestions would be welcomed.

I really want to get this app working!

Thanks,

Chris

Hi,
well i use to have Norton, but found it was more trouble than it was worth, removed files before i could stop it,so got rid.

Now you could try the following...

Disable Norton completely

Uninstall FDC

Run registry checker (if you have one)

Re-install FDC,make sure Norton is still disabled(make sure you are not connected to the internet)

See if that cures it

Hi. Thanks for the advice.

I disabled Norton and uninstalled FDC. I ran the Reg edit tool on CCleaner.

I reinstalled, but still no difference in running the program.

Could anyone confirm if the .dll's that I listed above that are supposed to be in the FDC folder? Yet can't be found in mine.

Maybe the FDC installer was corrupted by Norton when you downloaded it. They only way to truly disable Norton is to remove it from your system, salt it and then burn its bones

Ok. I have now completely uninstalled Norton. Uninstalled FDC and downloaded it again.

I have ran a registry program before reinstalling FDC without Norton.

Still the same without Norton, the program responds the same and will not execute. I also ran it as admin.

I think this now rules out Norton as an issue.

What else can be causing problems?

Finally, I have got it to work! :)

Not sure which of the following did the trick, but I think it is the latter.

In the installation folder H:\Aerosoft\FDC (in my case) I noticed 2 other applications; PFE_V312_System and Sysinfo_inst.

I ran both of these and afterwhich FDC.exe launches with no issues.

Glad you have it running now Chris.... those two files you mention are run during the installation so 'something' prevented them from doing so
