| Yes thats what I thought. We don't want to go backwards. I do have fsuipi3 but thats on Disc "C" with FS9 and quite separate from my FSX-SE stuff on "D" . I don't think Dave L, or Dave M felt that fsuipi was the cause of my troubles. Thanks for your interest. |

| Update. Having gained sight of FDC yesterday on installing the update package - I decided to try the same proceedure again which I did and I was thereafter able to load FSX Steam and run a short Cessna 172 flight with FDC and the Cessna checklists all in working order. Of course when I closed FSX it also closed down FDC and I then lost the ability to open it again via my desktop shortcut. So, a path to FSX is created via the update package, but not via the desktop shortcut, and the usual error message :- "Windows cannot access the specified device. path, or file. You may not have the approropriate permissions to access the item" continues. I wondered whether the above actions might throw a little more light on the matter. |

| Hi Guys. All sorted now. The continued Error Message was correct - it was indeed a question of Permissions. To clear I went to "C" and Right-clicked "users" /Give Access To/Advance Sharing/Advance Sharing (lower down)/Permissions and then I checked "Read"/Apply/OK FDC came up right away from my desktop shortcut. Many thanks to all. I look forward to continued use of the Forum as and when. Michael  |
