One slight problem of course is that we don't have any 'Russian' voice sets ![]() |

Yes, that did occur to me! But (almost) anything would be more appropriate that a broad mid-west US accent! ![]() |

Were you given altimeter pressures in millibars or inches and did they say "decimal" instead of "point" for the radio frequency? Also at what altitude were you? As if it is "apparently" FAA then of course you might get FLs only above 18,000ft. Sometimes it is all of these together or some. So it is extremely important to listen to the transmissions. Ideally all N American voices should be confined to the known FAA jurisdictions. Dave??? PR Puerto Rico HI Hawaii = Honolulu GU Guam = Honolulu Plus the other listed islands So basically everywhere else is not FAA. Canada complies with the FAA so care has to be taken there. |

Frankly, I don't really remember... Sorry. All altitudes, from ground/airport level all the way up to 39000' Yes, indeed. That's how I noticed they all had an American accent. ![]() |

Were they altitudes or flight levels? If flight levels at what point did they start? |

Flight levels. They started when ATC gave me climbout instructions on the ground. Wondering where you're going with this though - how altitude affects the ATC voices used, say in a flight 100% within Russia. |

An idea would be maybe to go to Simflight Russia or avsim.su if there are volunteers to record the voices. Maybe 5 guys and girls and then we are fit for flying through Russian airspace with "metres". They are very active with flightsim if you look at the great developers making nice renditions of airports and aircraft. I think PF3 and its predecessors are the only ATC software able to provide various accents according to the region with very realistic phrases and procedures!! ![]() Cheers, Axel |

I was told by a 'certain administrator'- and, not to put too fine a point on it, in no uncertain terms - never to darken AVSIM's doors again (after over 12 years and almost 4000 posts) for just mentioning Russian AVSIM in anything other than negative terms! I've never logged on there since. I am sure OnCourse will be a little more reasonable, but you have been warned! ![]() |

Some areas outside of N America since the days of PF2000 and in conjunction with the json maps are classified incorrectly as FAA and not ICAO. Some are complete in that they have US voices, point instead of decimal, inches instead of QNH and altitudes up to 18,000ft. Other recalcitrant areas appear have some or one or two of these. For example Western Greece which has now been corrected had American voices and point instead of decimal. So if you hear any of those expressions it indicates that Dave needs to check the area out and make corrections. So every time you get this problem do a zip of the FPP directory. |

Avsim has nothing to do with Oncourse. Fortunately! And talking of a "certain" adminstrator, any negative comment about a certain "other" ATC programme will result in an automatic ban. Regardless whether the comment is fact! Both the avsim forum for that ATC programme and avsim itself will not countenance any criticism of any kind. |
