Great Dave. Thanks for the explanation. My hearing and reading must have both mistaken that bearing message.

I really need to be nagged I guess! Will the co-pilot point it out? Just what I need, another woman telling me off! ;)

Now I've got it all working well, after the next update I'm going to drive the controllers wild by purposely driving off copurse just to hear the 'nags'! :lol:

Then they will probably walk out on strike and it will be all your fault! :lol:

Part of pilot training is to maintain a "listening watch" as they say. This means that you are constantly listening out for your call sign at all phases of the flight. And, you are expected to reply immediately with the correct response. "Say again" is not allowed in the RT exam. In fact if you fail the RT exam that's pretty much the end of your flying career! If you fluff the "Mayday" call that's an automatic fail and the exam stops there and then.
BTW "Mayday" comes from French "m'aider".
