I have enjoyed PF2000 , then the PFE addon shortly after the fiirst version was released. For some time, I have experienced hit or miss results with voice recognition (Game Commander2) particularly on the initial contact of "checking in". I have chosen to just ignore this and press the "0" key. As I usually let my copilot take care of communications thereafter. this has been pretty much academic. I really don't know when this appeared, probably after upgrading to Win7 some Months ago.

Seeing the sticky which advised having PF2000/PFE somewhere else besides the "Program Files", I just tried a reinstallation of the programs.

1. Uninstalled and deleted all existing PF2000/PFE files and folders
2. Downloaded a new installation of PFE from FlightOne just for good measure.
3. Reinstalled as per the instructions.
4. Installed all of my expansion/extended VoicePacks. (Which I have not been able to get recognized).
5. Upgraded to the latest version (2.14.0)
6. As per the "Having Problems Installing the Voice Pack" Sticky, downloaded and tried to install Version 2.0 of PFE.
First of all, Win7 would not let me save or open it as Maleware. Under security, I unchecked all idenitfiers and was then successful.
7. When I click on the execution file I get a PFE error window stating: "Run time error 52" and "Bad file name ore number".

I tried new downloads repeatedly, including on my secondary computer then copying it over on my home metwork. Same results each time.

Any ideas?

RTH

Hi,
when you say you don't get the voicepacks to recognise, what exactly do you mean?

Any other error messages, does the voicepack install ok,what about the expansion pack...does that install to a point and then stops?

Hello Dave.

Thanks for the prompt reply.

What I mean is that when I was starting up PFE, I had a message displayed in the opening Oncourse Software ProFlight Emulator display telling me that I did not have the expansion packs, although I had installed them with no problem. Of course Murphy's law is now present and when I start up PFE I do not see that message anymore.

From past history and reading Dave March's sticky thread "Having problems installing the Voice Pack?" three posts above, I remembered that as he instructed, a temp installation of version 2.0 was necessary. I downloaded version 2.0 from his link on that thread, but when I click on the execution file from that unzipped download, I get the runtime/bad file error I mentioned in my original post.

Ironically what I see under PFE options is as follows: "XPack voice sets only" is selected. I cannot unsellect it nor get any result when I click on "Original sets only" or "Original and XPack together" I cannot check "Use the XPack II Enhancer" either although I have it installed. Nothing happens on these options when I click on them.

"Pilot's Voices" and "Voice Prompts" are all "Pilots Old" and no other voices are listed.

I still get a hit or miss result for voice recognition for "Checking In" although that text is entered into the Gamecommander 2 window text. Ironically other voice commands always work. Keyboard commands seem to work just fine with the exception of "say again" (key "=").

Hope this helps a bit. Sorry for the confusion in the way I may be presenting this.

Thanks:
RTH

Presently starting over with a new installation.

On hold until I can post my results.

Try these, this is what i have done to remind me of the setup

1:Have all the files to hand from CD etc..that you need!!
2:Next locate your destination folder of your choice where you decide to install PFEv2.0 (NOT IN C:\Program Files)..And now start the installation..
3:After install, goto Task Manager and run it,switch/turn off PF_Emulator.exe*32 process otherwise you wont be able to carry on..(A Windows 7-64bit problem)
4:Now after install,re-boot your system (this is what i do) Do not use PFE icon on desktop..delete it!
5:Replace V2.0 original with the accumulative installer to bring it upto date… V2.14.
6:Now replace V2.14 with V2.0 from zip file, then re-boot and now install Voicepack V1.0 follow on screen instructions..
7:Now before installing X-Pack2,replace V2.0 with v2.14 that you stored away,re-boot your system, hopefully it will cure the locking up during install..remove any pfeflight folders and files if a lockup occurs and then try again..
8:Finalise setup, including locating Flightplans and Pilots folder and running Makerwys
9:Any changes to PFE must require a re-boot or an error 381 may arrise..
10:Once PFE as been setup do a test flight,if all goes ok great...if not and you don't hear some calls and only see text, then re-run accumulative update as it's a bad install.

Good Morning Dave:

Forgive me for the delay in a response. I have been trying repeatedly to get my expansion packs to work for the past few days, along with an interruption by a crash on another computer which required attention.

Also forgive me for such an extensive reply here, but I am trying desperately to identify my mistake as to what I am leaving out, or putting in that prevents success. My last attempt was as follows and I thought it was as per your instructions, but obviously, I am overlooking something.

1. Ran Control Panel\Uninstall a Program\PFE Standard Edition (Phase 2 of 2)
2. Ran C:\PFE\UninstallPFE1\Uninstall.exe (Resulting window read: "File C:\PFE\Uninstall.ini" does not exist.")
3. Deleted C:\PFE Folder.
4. Rebooted Computer ("Restart")
5. Disabled Antivirus and Firewall (ESET Smart Security 5)
6. Ran C:\OnCourse Software LTD\PFE_1_exe (Installed in C:\PFE folder, NOT the Program Files or Program Files(x86))
7. Installed AETI ProFlight2000 from my original CD (Earliest Version) installed in C:\PFE\FS2000 Folder
8. Closed the ProFlight2000 Installation Window ("Exit")
9. Clicked on the Desktop PF2k AETIProFlight2000 Icon.
10. Selected APLC32.EXE
11. Installed all voices from the original ProFlight2000 CD.
12. Closed ProFlight2000 ("Exit")
13. Ran C:\Oncourse Software LTD\PFE_2.exe (Version 1 installes)
14. Ran Task Manager > Ended Task ProFlight 2000 Emulator. (Note: "PF-Emulator.exe*32 you listed was not displayed)
15. Rebooted System ("Restart")
16. Disabled Firewall and Antivirus
17. Deleted the PFE Desktop Icon as you advised)
18. Moved Install_PFE_Accumalative_Updates.exe, pfeaccum1.exe, and pfeaccum2.exe into the C:\PFE\Updates folder.
19. Ran PFE_Accumalative_Updates.exe. (Note: An ATIS Folder containing VO1 and VO2 folders filled with WAV files was installed in the C:\PFE\FS2000\ADV\Wav \ATIS folder.
20. Moved PF_Emulator.exe to my desktop.
21. Copied the PF_Emulator.exe file from PFE Version 2.0 to my C:\PFE folder.
22. Rebooted System ("Restart")
23. Disabled Firewall and Antivirus
24. Ran ProFlignt Emulator VoicePack_V100.exe (Installed in the C:\PFE Folder. (Please confirm that this is the correct location)
25. Clicked on the PF2K AETI ProFlight2000 Desktop Icon to open ProFlignt2000.
26. Closed ProFlight2000 ("Exit")
27. Deleted C:\PFE\Emulator.exe
28. Moved the original PF_Emulator.exe file originated by the Accumulative installation above back into C:\PFE
29. Rebooted System ("Restart")
30. Disabled Firewall and Antivirus
31. Moved PFE_XPack2_Installer.exe, x2.dat, and xpack2.exe into the C:\PFE\Updates folder.
32. Ran PFE_xpack2_installer.exe (Note: Now have P01 and P02 Folders filled with Wav files in my C:\PFE\FS2000\ADV\WAV\ATIS folder
33. Rebooted System ("Restart")
34. Ran PF_Emulator.exe from my C:\PFE folder. (Also tried during with Start\All Programs\PFE Standard Edition (Phase 2 of 2)\PFE)

Results are the same.

When PFE opens, it includes a message: "You do NOT have any oif the new PFE Expansion Pack Voice Sets installed. Consequently this means some of the new audio features will not be available. It is highly recommended you obtain and install the PFE expansion Pack as soon as possible in order to enjoy PFE to the full."

I click OK, the Option 1

Under Voice Set Selection (Only available with XPack) XPack Voice Sets Only is selected. All other options including Use APack II Enhancer are unchecked, and I am unable to change the settings.

Yet the wav files are included in my ATIS folder.

Do you see what I am doing wrong anywhere.

I also went back to a previous post of mine under author rhodges on May 23, 2012, title: "Cannot Install XPack2 Completely" (Thought I had been through this before)
I followed those instructions which worked back then with no problem and The step sequence is slightly different. Same results. No expansion pack recognition.

Well, off to Church. Maybe a prayer or two will help, although I doubt that any Higher Power is particularly interested in this scenario.

Respectfully:
RTH

One more observation:

When I went back to the older post mentioned above (Cannot install XPack2 Completely from May 24, 2012), I see that your instruction stated "Finalise setup, locate Pilots folder and flightplans folder." after installing "the v2.0....downloaded from this forum/website". After moving the v2.0 execution file into my PFE folder, when I try to execute it, I never get a display. Yet, if I try to execute it a second time, I get a message that PFE is already running.

I have also tried to execute V2.0 after replacing the execution file in the last instruction routine you gave me with the same results.

If I remember correctly, many months ago when this worked, I was able to bring up version 2 as you mention. Has possibly some update from Windows negated this routine? Just a thought. Otherwise, any help in repairing this short between my ears is appreciated.

If worse comes to worse, I will just purchase the new ProFlight Deluxe version, but are there also hoops to jump through as well with it in order to install new voice packs, or possibly are they all included in the latest download?

Thanks:
RTH

Way to many loops!

1. Instal your base product
2. Instal cumulative updates
3. Instal Expansion Pack. If it says you need version 2 or later you must have an old version of the voice pack because that problem was fixed years ago. Contact Aerosoft to download/refresh your copy.

4. Done.... Go fly!

Thanks for the reply Dave M.

"1. Instal your base product

3. Instal Expansion Pack. If it says you need version 2 or later you must have an old version of the voice pack because that problem was fixed years ago. Contact Aerosoft to download/refresh your copy."

Does this mean that your post: "Having problems installing the voice pack?" on May 20, 2009, 2:32PM is no longer valid thanks to the fact "that problem was fixed years ago" and can be ignored?

Thanks:

SUCCESS!

Finally found what I was doing wrong. Hope this helps someone else avoid duplicating my mistake.

From the control panel I removed both the Voice Pack and PFE programs as Dave instructed. What I overlooked was that there was also the AETI ProFlight 2000 1.0 program present. When I removed all three of these programs with the uninstall provisions in the Control Panel, then deleted the PFE folder I was able to install as per Dave's instructions included above in this thread.

I tried the old instructions from the older thread I mentioned but was never able to get voice recognition. Dave's instruction included in this thread seems to work fine so far.

Sorry for the confusion and am a happy camper again with this great contribution to FS.

Thanks Dave and Dave!
