I find this question because I have same problem. My green pointer still shows same direction. I go around airport and it lead me away to some highway. I try the gauge with Cessna and Baron58 ... same problem. In my first try I not obtain "via" instruction. Ground controller just say: "All Nippon 2686 Taxi to runway 31" ... In my next try. I obtained instruction: Ground controller just say: "All Nippon 2686 Taxi to runway 0" No runway zero in the scenario.... On my last try I obtained instructions:

'All Nippon 2686 cleared to Lima Kilo Tango Bravo runway heading departure maintain 5 thousand Squawk 7345 Departure 119.0'

but the green pointer still stays lifeless.

Sorry by bad english. And I have PFE Version: 2.14.0, APLC Version: 1.0.1, FS2004, FSUIPC Version: 3.998I

Hi patience,

I'm not trying to interfere or over-ride Dave's response because he is the man that knows how it works of course. But I have some suggestions and comments which may give you some things to try:
In Options #1, make sure the following items are checked :
X Use TGS
X Visual Guidance
X Audio Guidance
X Use Heading Bug

This will (if it works properly for you) give you enough to get guidance without the TGS gauge. Your heading bug and VOR1 setting should temporarily change during taxi to show you where you should be heading (they will revert when you reach the runway). Your co-pilot should read out directions.

This should help you tell whether the entire TGS system isn't working for you, or whether it is just the gauge.

Regarding your other comments, I have sometimes been directed to Runway 0 if I have chosen a different runway. Try Ctrl-Shift-W to choose another (I had to re-assign to another key setting owing to a clash with other software, I now use Ctrl-Shift-R).

I don't understand why you hear "All Nippon 2686 cleared to Lima Kilo Tango Bravo runway heading departure maintain 5 thousand Squawk 7345 Departure 119.0" because that is a response from Clearance Delivery. Presumably you had already obtained clearance and had that reply before contacting ground to taxi?

John

Hello johnhinson and thank you for you fast response. Sure I have it all enabled:
Use TGS, Visual Guidance, Audio Guidance, Use Heading Bug

Heading bug is still on place. But If I move it so the green arrow rotate => I move the green arrow with the heading bug. Co-pilot is silent. He only talk to tower or to ground.

"I don't understand why you hear "All Nippon 2686 cleared to Lima Kilo Tango Bravo runway heading departure maintain 5 thousand Squawk 7345 Departure 119.0" because that is a response from Clearance Delivery. It is long file. Correct runway name is 31-13.

Important note: I start game on runway 13. I stand on big airport and must taxi on other end of runway. It is labyrint and very dangerous. I must cross runway.

Patience,
correct me if i'm wrong, you wont get any taxi guidance if you start your flight at the active runway according to your log,is that where you started your flight?
Also have you tried to re-load your aircraft to get the gauge to show as per the FaQ's in manual..

Yes I have no guidance. I start my flight always on RWY 13 . Active runway is Runway 31. I think that problem is when I start on the runway... and must go over ... to the opponent side to 31.

I can send you my adventure if you want to try it.

Yes, many times.

I think Dave is right. Even though you are at the opposite end of the runway you want, it is still the same runway.

Here is a run though of how I would start a flight from a gate. I use "CP Mode 1" in Options #1.
  • Manually tune to ATIS to listen to weather and runway information
  • Manually tune to Clearance delivery and request clearance with 0 key
  • Contact ground for push-back permission (if appropriate) using 0
  • Request permission to taxi to runway with 0 key
After that permission has been given, you should get a little window come up telling you that your TGS is active, and as you progress you should hear instructions from your co-pilot and see the pointer of the gauge move, along with the heading bug etc.
When you get to the runway, you should hear the co-pilot tell you you are at the runway and should see a message telling you that TGS is disconnected.

See if that works for you. If it does, you can then customise things to suit how you like to use it.

John

- Manually tune to ATIS to listen to weather and runway information
OK
- Manually tune to Clearance delivery and request clearance with 0 key
FAIL
- Contact ground for push-back permission (if appropriate) using 0
...
- Request permission to taxi to runway with 0 key
OK

Strange. If I start I tune ATIS (FS ATIS + PFE ATIS speak to me). Then I tune Delivery. Press 0. No response. I tune ground. 'Taxi to holding point, runway 31 using taxiway Kilo Lima '.

I go and green arrow is still liveless on 340°. No audio guidance. No video guidance.

I tune Tower - need clearance on RWY 04-22. They say: Taxi to RWY 31 using taxiway L. Then no response. BY RWY 31: I must tune GND back. I say: Good bye. They say: Tune TWR. I tune TWR back. They say: Taxi to RWY 31. No audio guidedance, no video guidance … and two person speak to me FS ATC TWR and PFE ATC GND/TWR. Very confuse.

I'm almost out of ideas and suggestions here, I'm afraid.

Just a few thoughts:
  • You can stop yourself hearing both FS ATIS and PFE ATIS by turning the FS ATC volume down to zero. You should do this because you will also hear other FS conversations
  • Have you tried at different airports? I'd recommend testing it at airports that do not have any add-on sceneries or AFCAD files to make sure that isn't the problem.
  • The only other thing I would suggest is to look at viewtopic.php?f=4&t=22
Good luck,

John

I try your recommendation and I want to ask you - about it:

pfe_v26_system.exe - is it some update or repair?
Xinstall3.exe - is it for FS9 or for FSX?
update_pfe_calls.cmd - what purpose is of the new folder in PFE\FS2000\Adv\Wav? Now I have these: ProFlightA-ProFlightZ... and PfeFlightA-ProFlightZ... folder.

I just describe to you what I do:

I am on KSEA but I don't know if I must load flight plan in FS? When I restart game, can I continue or I must disconnect from PFE and connect again?

I am on runway 34R, I load plan in FS. Then I tune GND or TWR and obtain correct taxi instructions to 34R.

I think that the reaction of PFE is slow (delay). I don't know if I hear whole communication (TOWER <-> co-pilot)... Look so strange. I obtain the clearance permission but don't hear co-pilot request.

When I flight (no permission take off) no PFE communicaiton. I land back on KSEA, tune GND, no PFE/co-pilot communication. I always press 0. But nothing. Only silence.

Then I restart (no flight plan), select aircraft Baron58 with green arrow indicator. I tune GND.
Ground say: "taxi to runway 34L". Then silence ... I go out and turn back. Then ground say: "Tune Tower" I tune tower and they say: taxi to RWY 34L. And I am before hold-short line.

Probably update no help.
