Andy the message in the log show that you have some wav files missing from your installation. They are included in the cumulative update so why they have not installed on you're system I have no idea

Dave,

I've just been looking at another thread and was hunting missing wav files! I found 'pfclick' was in the wrong folder, adv\wav rather than adv\wav\ProFlightE, so I copied it into there and I now hear my request for clearance. Another missing wav from adv\wav\ProflightE is 'pfchat406B' but I can't find that anywhere. It's not on my desktop PC nor on the laptop I installed PFE to as a test and 'pfclick' was in the wrong place on the laptop as well.

Both my FSX and FS2004 FSUIPC are the latest versions so I think the problem is down to missing wav files.

In which update file is 'pfchat406B' supposed to be? I've run the culmulative update several times both manually and normally.

Dave,

Having looked into this a bit further there are more wav files missing on my installation. Using 7-zip I've looked at the contents of all the .exe files the updater has put in the adv\wav folder and none of them contain 'pfchat406B' or any other of the missing files. The .exe files are:

newcallsigns.exe
newwavfiles.exe
xpack1_sp1.exe
xpack1_sp2.exe
xpack1_sp3.exe
xpack1_sp4.exe
xpack2_sp1.exe
xpack2_sp2.exe
xpack2_sp3.exe
xpack2_sp4.exe
xtaxi_1.exe
xtaxi_2.exe

None of the 'ProFlight*' sub folders contain 'pfclick' which is also causing problems, although I can get round that by copying and pasting.

As there are an unknown number of files missing how feasible would it be for you to send me a zip, or make available a download, of the entire adv\wav folder? I don't have the expansion pack. I can send you a blank CD or DVD if that would help.

Pfclick should be in adv/wav and not in any sub folder. I can only repeat all the files you need are in the cumulative updates

Dave,

Sorry about the mix up with 'Pfclick' I misread the error in the log. The fact that the error was cleared by my copying it was obviously a coincidence.

Going by the debug_monitor.log there are clearly wav files missing from my installation and I'm at a complete loss as to how to rectify that. Can you offer any more help that would enable me to get them from the cumulative updates onto my PC please?

Is it possible that the missing files are part of the v1.84 installation and therefore wouldn't be in the update?

I've tried both the normal and manual updating methods on two PCs, my desktop that I use for FlightSim and my laptop. The same files are missing from both installations.

Andy, I'm sorry but I don't know what else to offer in the way of advice. The files missing from your system are not in your original version which is why you are having these issues.

When you went through the manual instal of cumulative updates did you get any errors at all? Provided the instal files were in the correct location they are simple self executing zip files so you would have to follow the manual instructions precisely, otherwise the files would not go into the correct sub folders and in fact would end up in whatever folder you were running them from.

Choose one of the missing file names and do a search to see if you've somehow installed them elsewhere. The main adv/wav folder should not have that many files in it so of you have a thousand or more then they are undoubtedly the missing files that should be in your sub folders

The manual update didn't give any errors.

I've checked several missing ones and they are nowhere on the drive I've got PFE installed on.

The are not many wav files in adv\wav and none of them are 'Pfchat????' files which seem to be the missing ones.

To see where the update has gone wrong can we double check that it's put the right self executing zip files into the adv\wav folder?

As I said earlier they are:

newcallsigns.exe
newwavfiles.exe
xpack1_sp1.exe
xpack1_sp2.exe
xpack1_sp3.exe
xpack1_sp4.exe
xpack2_sp1.exe
xpack2_sp2.exe
xpack2_sp3.exe
xpack2_sp4.exe
xtaxi_1.exe
xtaxi_2.exe

Should there be any others?

Looking into them suggested that newcallsigns.exe, newwavfiles.exe, xpack1_sp1.exe to xpack_sp4.exe and xtaxi_1.exe contain 'Pfchat' files for the standard voices so I extracted them into the correct folders and that added a fair number of new files.

Two of the missing files that doesn't appear anywhere, self extracting zips included, are 'pfchat401A' and 'pfchat406B' and looking at the adv\wav\PfoFlight folders shows I've no 'pfchat' files between 'pfchat400d' and 'pfchat408a'. Is it possible that there's a self extracting zip gone missing somewhere?

Sorry, slight omission in the above - I've got 'pfchat401i' in adv\wav\ProFlightW.

Hi Andy,

I believe they were in the original release/install
