This might seem an odd thing, but when I have airport ambience enabled, a minute or so after I start taxiing I get a high-pitched 'screaming' sound start up - actually two sounds which slightly phase with each other (which makes it even worse). It is very loud - I can't imagine what it is supposed to be. It sounds rather like the sort of 'screeching' sound you get when a train slowly pulls into a terminus, the wheels scraping along the rails as it turns corners.

I am assuming it comes from FDC, as I never heard it before I installed the programme this week. Well, I turned off airport ambience for my last flight and it didn't happen, but maybe someone recognises what I am talking about - I could then remove the wave file (or replace it with a silent dummy wav file). I haven't located a 'culprit' though playing through the ambience files one by one....

If it's airport ambience it maybe it could be anything.... perhaps an aircraft touching down

think this is the culprit : AIRPLANE_JET_727_EXT_TAXIN1 and take a look at the other AIRPLANE_JET_.... wav files :

they are "loud and long"

Hi, thanks for the suggestions, but the jet sounds do all sound like airport noises. The 'screeching' I am talking about doesn't sound like airport ambience at all, it really is like two heavy pieces of metal being forcefully scraped past each other (ear-splitting) - I'll have to see if I can record it somehow..
