Before installing PFE, I received FSX ATC instructions thu my headphones - the engine and other sounds played thru my speakers.
Using PFE, I unticked the ATC voice in FSX Settings but unfortunately the PFE ATC comes thru my speakers.
I`m sure that somewhere in the FSX setting is the facility to select where to play voices but I cannot trace it.

Can someone advise if PFE can be directed the the `phones ?? or must it be thjru the speakers??

Yes, I'd like to know that also. Running FSX and W764. Would be a BIG plus if that can be done.

In Vista and W7 it's a case of using the built in sound control panel, start FSX and all the programs you want sound to come out of the speakers. Next using the sound control panel (right click on the little speaker in the task bar) change the default sound device to your headset or other sound device. Now launch PFE and it will use this other device to play back the sound.

Seems that that would change *everything* to the headset.

Currently in W7, I have headset as default comm device and speakers as default sound device.

If I change the default sound to headset - voice and engine sounds will be in headset, no?

Easier to do when I get home and can look at the actual dialog.


edit: I think what you're saying is that the programs already started will use the 'original' default and PFE will use the changed default.

Yup, that should work!

Exactly. You will be required to swap the default device back again though the next time you start FSX.

Interested to read your reply Andy but can I ask you about the sound allocation in FSX/Settings.
I am certain that I could select Default and Voice in the Sound Setting, yet this option no longer
appears. Any thoughts

George those settings only apply to FSX and it's default ATC system, PFE is an external program and has it's own separate sound system that is in no way related to FSX.
