At last a problem that I recognise, and know how to sort out! :P

You need to install the .Net Core 3.1 x86 runtime library which is required for Web Display - here's the link: https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/down ... -installer

I had forgotten (I blame it on old age) that this isn't installed by default on Windows 11, and although your system is 64-bit you will need the x86 version.
I'll need to update the documentation as this is likely to become increasingly common as more people 'upgrade' to Windows 11.

If you can download and install the runtime, then try running WD in an Admin command window again and let's see what happens.

Thanks,
Martin

Sorry Martin, one screenshot shows (I believe) the same message as before, i,e, file not found. The second screenshot indicates that yes the proper net core file is indeed installed.

Thought! Since the normal PF3 Display does not work (see previous messages) perhaps the problem lies there. Dave was working on this but I'm not sure he wants to delve into that issue again.

Advice and continued patience please.

I am somewhat confused ...
However, please can you open a command window again (doesn't need to be administrator) and run the following command:
"C:\Program Files (x86)"\dotnet\dotnet --list-runtimes

You will see the result of this in the attached screenshot - we are looking for the line beginning "Microsoft.NETCore.App 3.1.32"

Aargh! This is weird, I'll need to investigate further.

I'll come back to you when I have an idea of the next steps,
Martin

Martin, havent flown since our last communication, but got on today.

Opened the FS tool bar (to change the weather) and for the first time saw the icon for PF3WebDisplay. Hit the icon and PF3WebDisplay shows up as shown in the attached Screen Shot

Opened Chrome for http:/localhost:7339 but still got the "Site cannot be reached...........Local host refused connection.

Is this progress???????????

Sadly not, the 'blank' window that the add-on is displaying confirms that it too is unable to connect to port 7339.
I need to do a bit more research on what may be stopping this working with Windows 11.
I don't know if anyone else is having similar problems, unfortunately I don't have access to a Windows 11 system myself.

Cheers,
Martin

Could you please try one more thing:

Open the Web Display folder in File Explorer, then right-click on PF3WebDisplay.exe - select 'Properties'.
Now select the 'Compatibility' tab and in the Compatibility mode section tick the 'Run this program in compatibility mode for:' box and select 'Windows 10' from the drop-down - if that's not there (I think it should be) please Windows 8 instead. Click 'Apply' to save these changes.

Now open a console window and try running PF3WebDisplay.exe again - please send me a screenshot showing what you get this time.

Thanks,
Martin

Hi Martin, I tried that earlier with no success and tried again but still nothing. I get the same screen of a blank WEBDisplay box as in my earlier post. And Windows User account control still asks to open PF3 Webdisplay first and then to open PF3.

Can you please send me a screen shot of what the initial Web Display should show when working correctly and if possible, some inkling of what command is issued by Web Display to connect with localhost:7339. This may help Dell diagnose the issue.

Is my understanding correct that the Web Display will display properly on top of fs2020 and that connecting to another device such as an android thorough the local host is just an option. Thanks, and happy holidays ahead!

Apologies for the delay in coming back to you, I've been dealing with some family matters for the past couple of weeks.

I'm not sure what you mean by the following:

PF3 WebDisplay is a standalone program; if you start the .exe it should open a console window and start logging its progress - it will try to connect to PF3, but will eventually exit if it is unable to connect. I cannot understand what is causing UAC to ask you to start PF3.
Please can you provide a screenshot showing this request.

To answer your question, the Web Display application acts as a web server which is accessible on port 7339 (by default).
You can either access this directly from any browser, or via the Web Display add-on in MSFS 2020 - it acts in exactly the same way as a browser.

We really need to get a basic Web Display set-up working first (using a standard browser), before we move on to using the toolbar add-on.

Thanks,
Martin
