Good morning,

I wanted to make the subject as descriptive as possible to help anyone trying to do a forum search for this topic in the future. My search around the forums was not as fruitful as I was hoping. So, my question concerns the best way to display PF3 in the sim while using Virtual Reality. In the past I had used a small program/addon that one of the members here had created. I found that thread; however, it does not appear that this works any longer. Thank you pointy56 for creating that in the past. Also, I have not used PF3 in some time and am not sure of all the changes. I have been reading the changelog as well as installed version 3.22.0 of PF3. I have also been reading the instructions for Web Display 2.4.0. So, am I on the right track for displaying PF3 in Virtual Reality or is there a better method, such as an in-sim panel; or have I completely missed something critical?

Thank you in advance,
Ed

Hi Ed,

Please can you confirm which FS you are using - I'm assuming MSFS?
Also, are you saying that you in the past you used Web Display, but that it's no longer working for you?
(Web Display would be my recommendation and I believe that it is being used successfully by other VR users)

Cheers,
Martin
(PF3 Web Display developer)

Hi Martin,

Yes, Sir, I am using MSFS. I have a bad habit of assuming everyone knows what I'm talking about. I'm going to blame it on 30 years of marriage. My coworkers, on the other hand, just hummer me.

I have never used Web Display, hence the question if using Web Display is the correct thing to do for VR. What I used was PF3WebD-InGamePanel-9000 created by you! I loved it. You probably do not remember but I had asked for something to use in VR years ago and you whipped up that little gem. I used it for quite some time and set PF3 aside. I am just now returning to PF3 and looking to make a first flight with it today. In that intervening time I changed jobs and dabbled with a few other ATC software programs. On the other hand I also went out and earned my PPL so maybe that makes up a bit for my wondering eyes?

Great, so for VR I will give Web Display a try. I have it installed and followed the instructions. One area that I was a bit confused about was in the manner in which Web Display shows up in VR. Am I correct to believe that it opens in Chrome (my choice of browser) and from there I pull it into VR or is there an in-sim panel such as what you had made with PF3WebD-InGamePanel-9000?

V/R
Ed

Hi Ed,

The In-Game display is what I would suggest for you - I have just checked on my fully-updated version of MSFS and it does still work.

I sense a little confusion here - Web Display is the server that supports the In-Game display, and access from a browser.
It's possible that the In-Game display is not working for you simply because you're not running Web Display.

What I would recommend is that you set Web Display to run automatically with PF3:
Options 2/Advanced Options - Tick 'Use PF3/WEB Display' and 'Auto Run WEB Display'

You should then be able to start MSFS and run the In-Game display from the toolbar.

It might be an idea to install the latest version of WEB Display and the In-Game display from here: viewtopic.php?t=4564

Please let me know how you get on.

Martin
